Would really like to see a win here.. I hate Miami. What are the odds we see a different look here? I know Hell would freeze over before it happened but I would like to see a Tanner, Trey, Drey, Brandon and Aj starting lineup where they played a 2-3 zone. I think that would help with easy buckets coming in the middle and that is a lot of length to try and get through.

His horrible defense and streaky offense is a killer. At least now we 4 guys in the court that could score vs last year's 3. Woods should be playing more. Seems like he has that fire in him to play tough.

I have never been a fan of Nagy’s insistence on red-shirting freshmen. I am all for a redshirt year if a guy needs to physically develop. Carter needed that redshirt year last year. He is still undersized this year after redshirting last season. I don’t think either of our freshmen that are redshirting this year needed it. I think they both would be better options for us at the 2 than Alex is this year. They are both much more athletic than Alex which potential could have made them better defenders than Alex is capable of being.

I agree with that I think starting Woods or Carter will help significantly with the defense just based on athletic ability and length. I like Kaden on the defensive side of the ball, he still has yet to find the three ball which he had in high school I think once that happens he will be dangerous. The freshman in this class is deep and athletic the depth would help with guys not fatiguing late in the game. Would rather see freshman developed then seeing Andrew and Alex come off the bench just to miss threes and get burnt on the defensive side of the ball.

Doug Harris new article in the DDN sounds like Nagy is open to making the change to a zone defense. Would love to see them try it against Miami.

Again, redshirt based on whether the player is ready to play. Not seeing them in practice, we dont know this (unless they are 6'8", 160 lbs, then obviously they need to redshirt and hit the training table and weight room). If the talent level and adjustment to speed of the college game is not there yet, they need to sit for a year and learn in practice, because they wont get much playing time anyway. If they are ready to play, and good enough to earn at least 8-10 minutes a game, play them as a freshman. Again, not seeing practice, I have no idea who is and who is not ready, so I'll trust the coach on this one.

According to the DDN article looks like we won't be seeing a zone defense. Can't say I am surprised, but hopefully the defense looks better.

Hoping for a win (obviously) tomorrow. Here's my take. None of us armchair quarterbacks are in practices or know what the players are, or are not, being coached on beyond whatever scheme we see on the floor during games. I trust that the coaches know more than any one of us here, and it's ultimately up to the players to execute the plan on the floor. All the complaining about coaching on this board is growing tiresome. Are the coaches perfect? Probably not. Are any of you perfect in your jobs? I can guarantee they have more knowledge about what this team needs to do to win than any one of us on this board... and have way more motivation to do so. I'll be in the stands tomorrow cheering on our team which is loaded with talent, but seems to be low on defensive execution, at least at the moment.

The fans are the backbone of the team. The fans have skin in the game and can voice their opinions on this message board. The coaches are not perfect and all of us armchair quarterbacks need to hold them accountable. One example where I disagreed with a WSU coach concerned Jerran Young, he may have been the greatest basketball player at WSU ever, but he was never given an opportunity to shine. Another player named JT Yoho, was forced to play out of position, he was very good, but he could have been one of the all-time best at WSU if he played the small forward position. Don't even get me started on Thomas Hope and Joe Bills and the amount of time they spent on the court. Why even have a message board if we can't call out the coaches when we disagree? All the Karens of this world are tiresome.

Never said (or meant to imply) folks can't voice their opinions, but to think any of us on this board have more knowledge and experience by which to know what's going on in the gym at practices, or what's being said to the players during games is totally ridiculous. I sure would like to see more vertebrae show up at the games. Classy on the name calling.
Pulling it back to the game at hand...hoping our inside guys can get things rolling a little bit -- our inside game (offense and defense) was pretty poor against WKU.

It is my opinion that the coach should be the sixth player on the court. The coach should be evaluating the play, offense and defense, of each player and willing to substitute if a player needs to watch from sidelines to correct the problems. Players at this level need to understand taking them out of the game for instruction and allow them to look at the offense and defense of the opposing team. I am hoping to see an unpredictable coach tonight.
