Wright State vs. Robert Morris Saturday, February 17, 2024 Nutter Center, 1:00 PM TV: ESPN+ Athletic Site:rmucolonials.com/Message board:robertmorris.forums.rivals.com/forums/the-free-forum.6/Found this on the alumni association website. Thought the promo code would be helpful for some to get into the Nutter Center at a discounted rate for homecoming. If you have a ticket for the men's game you get in for free for the women's game at 4. Hopefully the women get a decent turnout for this one as they deserve it for a pretty solid season after a few struggling ones!

They are also inducting 8 new members in the Raider Hall of Fame before the men's game, and it will be Senior day for the ladies (which is unusual because they still have one more home game -- maybe they wanted to keep it on a weekend to make it easier for their families to attend).

I was thinking the same thing about the women's senior night! I will be in attendance for both games though! I am excited to see the women's game. I haven't been to one of the women's games this year.

You are going to enjoy watching them. They play exciting up tempo offense (like the men), but they also play good defense. Plus, no matter where your seats are for the men, you can sit much closer for the women. Courtside if you choose to. They typically draw about 1000 fans (which is more than some of the other HL men's teams draw), and I would expect a bigger crowd for this game given the double header, senior day, homecoming, etc.

I should have prefaced my previous comment about the ladies team with "Usually" they play exciting offense and good defense. Tonight they had their worst outing of the season, couldn't make shots, and didn't play defense for most of the first half. WSU shot under 30%, and 13% from three in losing by twenty at home to a YSU team they beat by 14 earlier this year. I expect they will bounce back on Saturday against NKU.

Must be something with the Nutter Center rims the last couple of days for both our raider teams...

For years we were convinced their was something different (worse) about the rim toward the student section. Both the men and the women would shoot much better in the second half, and our opponents were often better in the first half when they were going toward open end of the court. And it wasn't the effect of shooting towards the screaming students, cause it still seemed to occur when the students were on break or just didn't show up. Playing offense or defense in front of your own bench explains part of it, but not why it's the opposite half for our opponents. Haven't seen this trend as much this year, but part of that is our lack of second half defense has kept the other teams shooting percentages way high at the closed end.
Then a few years ago we were down on the court after the game, and noticed the lighting is very different at each end, because the lights continue over the press and party section on the open end, but stops at the end of the court on the student/band end. Its not noticable from the stands, but seemed obvious when on the floor at the three point line. I wonder if this creates a weird optical illusion that seems to lower the shooting percentages slightly in the closed end. Kind of like how the final four teams sometimes have much lower shooting percentages because they are playing in a big football stadium where the depth perception is altered.

The data does back up the argument that the right side/student section side of the court is yielding a lower FG pct for both WSU and their opponents this season. Obviously a lot of other factors in play
Left Side (WSU Bench): 51.4% Right Side (Opponent Bench): 49.1%

Well how’s 72.5% shooting in the first half sound for a bounce back after the Oakland game? Robert Morris is playing worse defense than the Raiders, that’s refreshing to say.

Up 31 and the starters are still in the game. Why?

Is there any recent word about Jim brown?? Last I heard was during the game at NKU when their announcer, Brady Laber, said Jim was getting ready to be operated on for his back. I think all of us here love him and what he does for the department but I also think the broadcast is much better with Kinner providing commentary. That said, I hope he’s doing well!
