Tonight was a great game to watch. we did everything we needed to do to win and we did it for a full 40 minutes. I also really liked the larger lineup. I hope Spencer was sitting out because of his thumb injury, but that is just a guess.

Raiders looked like a completely different team tonight. The offense became livelier.
Tyrone Scott added another option as a penetrator, which created ball movement, and for the first time this season, our offensive possessions had some consistent flow. The first time we saw Detroit's zone in the first half, we looked lost again, but later in the game the ball movement was very crisp and, of course, we made a few 3-pointers, which limited Detroit's zone aspirations.
Scottie looked very impressive. All the praise goes to the coaching staff. They discovered this gem, and even though nobody else was interested in him, Mr. Wilson looks like a great catch right now.
The substitution pattern was very puzzling in the last two games, but who are we to judge coach B when it works. I liked aggressiveness Parysh showed in his few minutes this year, but he is the odd man out in the front court for now. I suspected that Reinaldo might be delegated to the bench upon return of our two DVD enthusiasts, but Everett? However, the way they played tonight whose minutes should be given to Everett? It looks like Robert Eldridge will get more playing time as he heals. Scottie Wilson showed exactly the effort I have been expecting from Everett since last November.
I really enjoyed the defense played by Jaron and Scottie today. James Craft has the physical attributes to be the defensive force, but still looks very shy out there - I am sure he will improve.
DeShawn is a special talent, but I was really happy to see the team move the ball efficiently on offense for the few minutes he was on the bench.
I feel that we will not shoot as well from outside this season on a consistent basis, but if we move and share the ball like today, maybe it will be easier to compete in league play.

Titans Hope To Keep Calihan Hall Success Going When Wright State Visits WednesdayFebruary 7, 2006 Stung by a second-half letdown on Saturday when UIC overcame a nine-point deficit to defeat them, the Titans will try to get back to doing what they do best - winning in Calihan Hall - when Wright State comes to town on Wednesday night. Tip-off time on the UDM campus is 7:05 p.m., and WDTW-AM 1310 will provide local broadcast coverage. The game will also be streamed live on the internet. By clicking the Horizon League All-Access link at the top of this page, you will be directed to the league's men's basketball schedule and results page. You will then need to scroll down to today's game, and click the "Watch" link located in the right-hand column under the game time. A high-speed internet connection is required. The Titans are a sparkling 9-1 at home this year and they've been an offensive power on their home floor too, averaging 72.6 points a game. By contrast, they've dropped 10 straight road games, and are 1-12 on the enemy's home floor for the year while averaging just 55.0 ppg on the road. The Titans enter Wednesday's contest with an 11-14 overall record, and their 5-7 Horizon League mark puts them in a three-way tie with UW-Green Bay and UIC for fifth place in the conference standings. Visiting Wright State arrives with an 11-10 overall record after three consecutive victories and, at 7-4, stands third in the league. Guard play continues to drive both teams. WSU's DaShaun Wood is fifth in the league in scoring this week at 16.8 ppg, while Detroit's Brandon Cotton is one step ahead, fourth at 17.0. He has averaged 20.2 ppg the last six games, since coming back to the lineup on Jan. 18 after a three-game absence due to a hand injury. Cotton's backcourt mate, Jon Goode, has averaged 14.7 ppg over the last three contests. Detroit lost to Wright State, 69-58, in both teams' league opener back on Dec. 7. Wood, a native Detroiter, led the way for WSU with 18 points and six assists. Cotton paced the Titans with 13 points, but suffered through a 4-for-16 night from the field. UDM forward Chuck Bailey recorded his second consecutive double-double with 10 points and a like number of rebounds. After playing Wright State, the Titans will be idle for a week until they travel to Youngstown State on Feb. 15. www.detroittitans.com/mbasketball.jsp?id=1139331748659

Detroit will be a very tough game! I didn't realize the Titans were 9-1 at home this year.
It is like Detroit is 2 completely different teams depending on if they are at home or on the road. They average over 17 MORE points at home!!!
If we are fortunate enough to win this will be one of the bigger win of the year simply because Detroit is almost perfect at home.
My "3" keys to the game are:
1. We have to keep our TO's under 12. Since we are both defensive minded teams every possession will be critical.
2. We can't get hammered on the boards. We have to at least break even on the boards. Keeping Jordan Anthony out of foul trouble will be critical.
3. Someone other than one of our big 3 ( DW, DB, & JAP ) will have to step up and contribute at least 7 points or more. It could be Tyrone, Walt, Scottie.........
This will be a huge win if we can pull it off!!

WSU knows road victory at Detroit would be big lift Raiders are just 2-8 on road this season; Titans are 9-1 at home By Marc Katz Dayton Daily News FAIRBORN | While it's always toughest to win on the road, at least DaShaun Wood and Drew Burleson can tell their Wright State teammates it's not impossible. That's the message the Raiders' co-captains will deliver prior to tonight's Horizon League game at Detroit's Calihan Hall, where the host Titans are 9-1 this season, compared to 1-12 on the road (and 1-1 on neutral courts). "I could give you a million reasons why I want to win in Detroit, but that's just one (winning on the road)," Wood said. "You always want to beat a good team. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter where you play. You've got to block out and do all that other stuff." While it looks like Detroit has assembled a mediocre team this year, it is believed by many the Titans have the best talent in the league. It was especially true two years ago when the Raiders visited, overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half and beat Detroit 67-61. "Winning any game on the road is a big win," Burleson said. "We have to have the attitude we can do it again." Wright State is 2-8 on the road this season. The last time the Raiders had a winning road record was 1989-90 when the Raiders were 7-6. In 1992-93, they were 6-6. When coach Paul Biancardi took over in 2003, he inherited a team that was 0-12 on the road the previous season. His first team won at Youngstown State, Brown and Cleveland State before winning at Detroit, but Detroit was clearly the best team in that group. "That became a great win for us," Biancardi admitted. "But the first big road victory was at Youngstown. This team didn't win a game on the road for 18 months. It was also the first league victory. It was big." Wright State enters the game with a three-game winning streak and in third place in the conference. A victory tonight would make Saturday's home game against Butler a battle for second place. I don't understand why anyone is taking a 3 point shot when there is plenty of time left and the game is close. We are not a 3 point shooting team. WSU is 29% from 3 point range on the year. Jordan is shooting 57% from the floor on the year. Feed him the ball. All of their post players were in foul trouble and none of them could stop him.

Detroit is a tough place to win at. They are 10-1 on the year at Calihan. We played a good game tonight and just came up short. I was happy with the effort and am happy we kept fighting back when we fell behind by 10. Earlier in the year, I think we would have folded and lost by 20.

You never like to lose and I'm not happy that we lost, but I won't have any trouble sleeping tonight. We were in the game until the end. If we would have done a better job with defensive rebounding and not taken so many rushed 3s, we could have won. I was happy with the effort tonight.
This game really shows WSU main weakness. If we get behind by 10 in the second half, we can't get back into the game with 3s. This game wouldn't have even been close if we had Zakee this year. We need to add another 3 pt specialist with our last scholarship.

I think this team will be 13 - 15 this year. They can't win on the road. Will a 9-7 league record get us 3rd place?
I'm glad we beat UWM or we would have very little chance at a winning record.
Next year could be our year with the seniors we will have!

Sorry I thought there was one more road game. I think I was including Detroit. So 13-14. 9-7 in league. When the HL tourny is over we will probably be 14-15 or be .500 again.
