Big D,
I have always respected what you have to say but your opinions of Gregory are just wrong. The proof will be in the pudding over the next few years and if the Flyers continue to struggle you will be right but this years UD team has a lot more to do with a guards transfer and OP's last 2 years of recruiting than BG as a coach.

Big D, I have always respected what you have to say but your opinions of Gregory are just wrong. The proof will be in the pudding over the next few years and if the Flyers continue to struggle you will be right but this years UD team has a lot more to do with a guards transfer and OP's last 2 years of recruiting than BG as a coach. I get so sick and tired of UD fans blaming all of UD's current woes on their former coach. Did you notice that Purnell had absolutely no trouble winning with the talent that he had on their roster. You can't keep blaming the last coach for the current product. 8 of UD's current players (9 counting the guard that transferred) are Gregory's recruits. HIS players are the ones not living up to their hype as top incoming recruits. A common argument on UDpride is they lack senior leadership because they only have OP recruits as upperclassmen. The other most common argument is one you brought up--they lost a guard who transferred. Whos fault is that? It was Gregory who decided not to bring in any recruits during the late signing period when he was hired at UD. WSU was able to bring in Wood, Boyd, and Zach Williams in that late signing period, so there were still good recruits/transfers available. Even in his first actual recruiting class, he chose to bring in all freshman. He could have brought in an experienced JUCO or 2 to give the team the experience they are lacking now. He chose to load up on wings and combo forwards rather than another pg. All of their roster problems are problems that he could have addressed over the last 3 years. UD is at where they are at because of the decisions Gregory has made, not their last coach. An Oliver Purnell team may not have had the most talent, but they always hustled. If you have seen any UD games this year, you know that is definitely not the case with this years team. They don't play as hard as their oponent and they are poorly coached. I am more than willing to wait another year or 2 for my opinion to be validated or proven wrong, but I have never been impressed with Gregory as a coach.

big d, what i find amazing is the difference between most ud fans and most raider fans. ud fans are in an uproar over a 7-7 record against pretty decent competition. they really expect and demand success. raider fans seem numbed and resigned to failure. i swear some raider fans are over sedated. no passion, demanding or expectation for success. that is sad, but maybe it helps explain why we have no success. GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!11 Keith, I completely agree with you. I wish we had 1/2 of UD's fanbase to begin with, but I would love if our fans demanded success like at UD. I don't have any real explainations as to why our fans are so apathetic. I guess a decade of failure after failure will do that to fans.
