Well the HL tournament went to a neutral venue last year. Like it or not it happened and we are locked into playing it in Detroit for 3-4 more years. This year they are doing away with the double bye format and giving the top 2 seeds a single bye. Like it or not, it is going to happen. It has already been decided. Debating it is a waste of time.

Sounds like the first guy to throw his hat in the ring is Jim Crews. Here is his resume: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_CrewsNot what I want for our next coach. His best years where at Evansville and he declined towards the end there. He completely stunk up the place at Army and inherited a great program at St. Louis and ran it into the ground. I don't even think he should be considered.

We should be worried about OUR numbers. That is a great quote and I think all Raider fans should be applying that idea to our whole situation. Some pundits and outsiders are saying we made a bad move. Well screw them. Let them worry about their shit. We are Wright State. We should want to get OUR program to the next level no matter what outsiders say. We don't need to apologize to anyone for that. Billy is a nice guy but his recruiting was sub par and he wasn't going to take us to the next level. All of you guys that want to talk about how close we were to winning the HL tournament the last 4 years still do not get that THAT is not the next level. If we go to the dance in any of those seasons, we would have been a 14-16 seed and got blown out in the tournament like we did our other 2 times we went to the dance. The next level is putting together a consistent top 100 program that gets to the tournament a handful of times ever decade and has a real chance to win some games once they get there. We used to be competitive with conference foes like Xavier and Butler. Both have moved on to bigger and better things because the didn't settle. They thought that they could do better. They didn't put all of their eggs into one basket with the mentality that they had to win the conference tournament to get to the post season. They played OOC schedules that gave them a chance to get at large bids. Donlon NEVER put together an OOC schedule that could have done that. He put together schedules that helped him pad his win totals and even when he did that he still only had a barely above .500 career record here. I want us to be the next Butler, Gonzaga, Xavier, VCU, Wichita State, etc. I know that is a long shot to achieve but I would rather aim big and fail than to settle for mediocrity and say that is the best we can ever be. Shame on all of those pundits that think that we should have to settle for that. Screw Them. We are Wright State and I want us to be GREAT. So should all of you! Agree 100%

what I find interesting is that we announce a schedule with two really bad div iii teams and even amongst the most passionate of raiders fans it elicits barely a ripple of comment. i think about five fans have expressed unhappiness with this. we have what, maybe 2000 season ticket holders and only five. hopefully some folks are on the phone to wsu expressing dissatisfaction. but until they see season ticket holders rebel this crap will continue. A few corrections to the above comments. We had close to 2500 season tickets sold last year. Most of the fans that have expressed unhappiness with the schedule above are not season ticket holders, including you.

Playing a tournament at WSU in the future sounds like a great idea. I don't see that ever happening with our current coaching staff and AD. Organizing a tournament would require waaaaay too much effort when they can just continue to schedule a couple of D2 teams a year and get away with it. Pretty much sums up my thoughts

We have many fans that think that we should be a great team. You guys all need a reality check. We lost 5 senior starters from last year's team. Four of those five guys will be making a living playing professional basketball. Going into this season we were returning the least amount of returning scoring than any other team in the HL and that was when we were including Tavares Sledge and Kendall Giffin. We currently have THREE players with any significant D1 playing time under their belt: Reggie, Chrishawn, and JT. The rest of our returning players have no significant time on the court under their belt. We brought in 9 new players this year. None of them have any experience in our system. It is going to take this team some time to gel and even when they do, they are going to have some big weaknesses due to our lack of big man depth and inconsistent outside shooting. Given all of that, this team still shows a lot of promise. If you take the time to look at this team you will see that we are 4-3 and could easily be 7-0. We have competed in every game. We have won 2 OOC road games already this year. Last year we did not win a true OOC road game all season. Our only OOC win away from the Nutter Center was vs. Houston Baptist in a neutral site tournament. We have 6 more OOC games (3 at home and 3 on the road) to work out the kinks before HL play starts.

Could be a long year, Horizon League is weak, Wright State is short. The HL is weak. Yoho is back Saturday. Could be a great year for the Raiders.

Is there going to be horizon league network access for this game? There wasn't last year for the exhibition game so I doubt it.

Former Raiders Coach Jim Brown is going to be calling all WSU games this year with CHris Collins according to Klinger on RRB.

I'm more interested in how they play in the uniforms than how they look. You don't have long to wait to find out the answer to that question.

I don't necessarily think Donlon should be fired over this but I think he hasn't done nearly enough to prevent these incidents. The thought of being suspended a game or 2 obviously hasn't worked as a deterrent. Maybe our AD needs to step in and establish some real punishments for athletes that break the law. Athletes are representatives of the university if they like it or not. They are being given a free education for representing the university. They are held to higher standards than the rest of the student body. Maybe we need to go to an extreme and tell our athletes that if you get arrested, you lose your scholarship for a year. If you stay out of trouble and behave like a good citizen you can earn it back the following year. I think our athletes will think very hard about the decisions they make if there are some real consequences to their actions.
