At 6 p.m. today, the NCAA will announce its Division I tournament bracket live on CBS. There are no shortage or story lines and questions about who will get in and where they'll be seeded.
A quick guide to watching tonight's selection show:
The format
There will be 31 conference champions and 34 at-large selections to fill out of the field of 65 teams.
Opening Round Game
Keep an eye out for the "play-in" game, which matches the last two teams in the bracket to play Tuesday at UD Arena. Two likely candidates are Weber State (20-11), the Big Sky champion that earned its first tournament appearance since 2003 and Jackson State (21-13), the Southwestern Athletic Conference champion.
Seeding
Some questions:
• Who will be the four No. 1 seeds? Does anyone want to be? Ohio State is one, and North Carolina and Florida also are likely. UCLA and Kansas lost early in the conference tournaments.
• How high can Wright State go? The Raiders finished hot, but you have to consider their slow start. A No. 13 seed seems most likely.
• What about Duke? The Blue Devils have been grandfathered into the rankings for weeks now. Will the same happen with their seeding?
Bubble teams
Notable bubble teams include:
• Clemson. Started 17-0 before finishing 21-10, including 7-10 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
• West Virginia. Let's face it, the Mountaineers just aren't the same draw without anyone named Pittsnogle.
• Purdue. Or, at least, the Boilermakers were on the bubble, until they embarrassed Iowa in the Big Ten quarterfinals.
• Texas Tech. The Red Raiders beat Kansas and Texas A&M twice, and they have a solid RPI and strength of schedule. C'mon, you know people want to see Bob Knight in the tournament.
• Old Dominion or Drexel? Or both? That's the debate for the Colonial Athletic Association.
• Air Force. Aren't the Falcons here every year?
