Detroit Mercy's Brandon Bell won't play in senior seasonOctober 1, 2007 By VINCE ELLIS FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER Senior point guard Brandon Bell will not suit up for his last year of eligibility at Detroit Mercy. Bell is still in school, but he has decided to just concentrate on getting his degree in December, coach Perry Watson said Monday. Bell, the younger brother of Milwaukee Bucks guard and former Michigan State great Charlie Bell, never fully recovered from a torn Achilles, which he suffered before the 2005-06 season. Bell, who started his career at Marquette, averaged 6.3 points and 2.9 assists last season. Also, Mychael Broom, a 6-foot-5 junior college transfer from Phoenix College, tore an ACL and is likely to miss the entire season. Broom, a forward, averaged 10 points and five rebounds as a freshman at Phoenix College. He is eligible for a redshirt, so he will have three years of eligibility remaining. www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071001/SPORTS08/71001054/1081/COL

Wow. Too bad.
Good luck to him in getting his degree, good for him on making a tough decision to plan ahead for his likely bright future.

Sucks for Detroit. They were already bad last year. They lost one of their top 2 players in Covile to graduation and now this. Looks like they are going to be competing with YSU and UIC for the HL cellar.
