After watching last nights game I came away thinking that our starting lineup will likely change as the season progresses. No matter who starts I think the top eight or nine players will all see significant minutes. This will be the best depth we have seen in years.
It is all speculation but here is how I see our starting lineup and subs as the season progresses.
Starting five.
John David Gardner at the point
Vaughn Duggins at the two guard
Todd Brown at the wing
Gavin Horne at the power forward
Jordan Anthony Plieman at center
Subs.
Scottie Wilson
Troy Tabler
Ronnie Thomas
Will Graham
With out seeing Gardner play I am making my guess based on what I hear folks say about his talent level. I think Will is more valuable coming off the bench since he is so versatile and can play at least three positions. Todd Brown and Vaughn Duggins are no brainers at starters. These two will log the most minutes. Jordan is mister steady in the middle. He is a tough physical player. I think now that we have more depth we will be able to rest him more through out the game which will help him to a more productive season. Gavin Horne seems like a natural fit at the power forward spot. He was more physical then I thought.
Like I mentioned above I think our top subs will all log good minutes. Much like Will Graham Scottie is more valuable coming off the bench. His best position is the wing, occupied by Todd Brown, but he can also play the four and even center in a pinch. He is an undersized power forward but I still see Scottie playing twenty plus minutes per game. Ronnie Thomas will be Jordan's back up this year. If Ronnies knees hold out and we can get 15 minutes a game from him at the center position it will do wonders for Jordan's game. A rested Jordan will be a better player. Troy will also see significant minutes as a backup to all three guard positions. Troy is a stud in the making and it wouldn't surprise me to see him in the games at crunch time.
I may be way off base but time will tell. How do you folks see the team taking shape?
