This guy has us currently as a sixth seed in the NIT. Of course this assumes we do not win the Hoizon League tournament. tcaa.puretecmo.com/nit06.html

He has Illinois State as a #1 seed. I win by us would be huge for the NIT then if we do not win the HL tourny.

First, I’m pulling for an NCAA tournament bid, but if we’re speculating about the NIT…
Wow, according to this, a 6th seed would have us playing Missouri, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, or Wake Forest.
Is there any way that Dr. Cusack can guarantee 10,000 tickets sold, and bring this game to the Nutter Center? That would be great.

It would be great if did drop to the NIT to get a home game. Tha would be another great step for our program if we knocked off a school from a large conference.

Is there any way that Dr. Cusack can guarantee 10,000 tickets sold, and bring this game to the Nutter Center? That would be great. I am with you Klinger in that my first desire is the NCAA but it does not hurt to speculate on plan B just for the fun of it. I may be wrong but I thought when the NIT was bought out by the NCAA the format was change in a couple of ways. First, schools that won their conference but did NOT get and at large bid to the NCAA automatically qualifies for the NIT. This is important because if a lot of conference champions do NOT win their conference tournament we could be knocked out of the NIT altogether. Remember both Akron, 26-6 with and RPI of 66, and Dayton with and RPI of 70 were left out because of all the conference champions that did not win their conference tournament. Secondly, and to your point about hosting an NIT game, I thought that attendance was no longer suppose to be a factor as far as who hosted the NIT games. It is my understanding that the NIT seeds the teams and the higher seed always host. As it stands now we are a sixth seed to we would not be able to host a first or second round game. Now if we win out and climb to a fourth seed or higher then we would automatically host a first round game. I actually like this rule because in last years NIT several BCS schools were forced to play at the mid majors because of the seeding. I will be happy if we playing in the post season in back to back years.

You're right, Rock. I forgot. This was not the case a few years ago. The only way that a lower seed hosts is if a facility at the higher seed is not available. I’d reckon that our seeding might improve if we could guarantee 10,000 tickets sold.

If we don't make the NCAA's I'm happy with an NIT bid. It gives us more exposure and another banner to hang in the NC.

They don't display Bomber's stuff at WSU games anymore. I know, but personally I don't like having the Bombers play at the Nutter Center at all. I'm not a anti-Dayton Bombers (but I am a Cincinnati Cyclone fan), but the original Nutter Center was for Wright State basketball back in 1990. Maybe there will be people who love having the hockey team here. Maybe we could have the club hockey team play at the Nutter though ;D I remember reading the DDN article earlier this season saying how the Bombers GM (or someone who is in charge) is angry with the decision to roll up the Bombers achievements. Back to the topic at hand, I personally would like it if WSU got either a NIT or a Big Dance ticket.

Maybe UD and WSU will finally meet ... in the NITBy Chick Ludwig Staff Writer Thursday, March 06, 2008 If you could pick just one of the following three scenarios, which would you choose? A. The Wright State Raiders make the NCAA tournament. B. The Dayton Flyers make the NCAA tournament. C. A UD-WSU matchup in the opening round of the NIT at UD Arena. I'd take "C" because I follow both programs and would love to see 'em play. I'm confident neither will make the Big Dance. The Raiders are out of gas and runnin' on fumes. The Flyers, minus Chris Wright, have been going downhill since their 14th victory in their 15th game. A 20-person panel of college basketball experts selected UD's Brian Gregory as the winner of the midseason Jim Phelan Coach of the Year Award. I'd like to present WSU's Brad Brownell with the end-season Chick Ludwig Coach of the Year Award. What the 21-9 Raiders have accomplished without 2007 Horizon League Player of the Year DaShaun Wood is nothing short of astounding. They're 6-0 in one-point games. Their all-out hustle and brand of team ball cover up a lot of mistakes. I credit Brownell and his staff for working Houdini-like magic. The Flyers leave you hungry with questions. When are Jimmy Binnie and Kurt Huelsman going to step forward? Where's the depth that's supposed to accompany Brian Roberts? When is Charles Little going to realize his future's in the NFL, not the NBA? I don't fault one guy. There's plenty of blame to go around. www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/wsu/2008/03/06/ddn030608audible.html

UD shouldnt be so lucky! This isnt neccesarily a good thing for WSU, its a great thing for UD! They would be getting what they want. WSU at home! Lets be honest, UD is tough at home but is just mediocre on the road. They could kill three birds with one stone on this one. NIT game, another home game, beat WSU. Wouldnt they love to win that and then brag about how bad they think we are!
HOWEVER, if we were to go in and win, what a happening that would be!
