DAYTON — A scheduling conflict will prevent the University of Dayton from playing at UD Arena if it hosts an NIT quarterfinal game, but Athletic Director Ted Kissell has worked out an agreement with Wright State to move the game to the Nutter Center if needed.
The Flyers (22-10) will play in the second round at Illinois State (25-9) at 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, and the winner will advance against either Ohio State (20-13) or California (17-15). If UD and OSU win, the quarterfinal would be in Columbus.
If Dayton and Cal both win, the game would be played at the Nutter Center on Wednesday at a time to be determined. Ticket distribution information will be announced after the second-round game (if UD wins), and no tickets will be sold before 10 a.m. Tuesday. UD has requested that fans not contact its ticket office or the Nutter Center.
Kissell has appreciated the cooperation he's received from Wright State.
"They've been awesome to work with," he said.
UD Arena will host R.I.S.E. VIII, the world's largest investment conference, from March 27-29. NASDAQ will hold its closing bell ceremony for the first time on a college campus during the symposium. The arena is booked the Wednesday before the event for setup.
Illinois State advanced to the second round with a 61-57 win over Utah State before 6,397 fans in 10,200-seat Redbird Arena last week. The Flyers are coming off a 66-57 victory over Cleveland State.
Making its first postseason appearance in 10 years, Illinois State finished second in the challenging Missouri Valley Conference this season and has tied a school record for victories.
