I am a huge fan of bballraider's pregame analysis and I know many other posters have commented on them as well. I saw that bballraider has a blog through his yuku account on raiderroundball and though some of you might be interested in reading. bballraider.u.yuku.com/

I am a huge fan of bballraider's pregame analysis You got that right. bballraider's pregame breakdown is second to none. His blog page is what I expected.........top notch. I have book marked it and will make regular visits to his blog. Hey bballraider, does this mean you won't be posting on the two WSU boards as much? I hope not. I could see your blog stories being linked to this site with discussions to follow.

Thanks for the kind words from everybody. Does this mean I have to watch my spelling on my blog now. It was easier when nobody was reading it. Rock70, I will continue to post on both websites. I only blog when I am bored, so it is not updated very often, but I try to post on my blog when something big happens at WSU. Most of the time my blog just re-iterates what I am posting on the boards, but maybe a little more in depth.

Great blog entry bballraider. You put into words what I feel about Bob Grant much more eloquently than I could ever hope to do.

I've noticed a few things in bballraider's blogs that might need some commentary. First, Chris Collins has been working very well with the student section, particularly the Raider Rowdies, for which he is the faculty adviser. A lot of ideas come from the students, and with the Rowdies establishing themselves, there is now a nice back-and-forth between the department and many of the students who regularly attend. Chris, and Joni Williamson before him, have made it a point to make games student-centric. The promotions department should be commended for what they have done this year and the great strides they have made in improving campus participation.
As far as the balloons go, this is something that the Raider Rowdies started with Wright Patt Credit Union. We brought them in on our own accord for the Valpo and Butler games during the Raider Mania weekend (which was, in itself, run mostly by students in the Raider Rowdies). The spirit coordinator and other staff members wanted to have them at every game, but we felt it would wear itself out in a sense. Teams would expect it and it would lose its luster (think thunder sticks in the NBA).

Thanks for the coments and clarification gerb, it certainly helps to hear the balloon story first hand, instead of through the channels like I did. I was trying to make a point that I think there should be some flexibility with how some marketing is done, and that new innovative ideas shouldn't be tossed out because they do not conform to that of the marketing firm.
Also, I certainly wasn't slighting the Rowdies and their effort to help raise the student involvement in the games. I realize most of the ideas are coming from the students, I applaud everything they are doing. I was just giving Chris Collins a little praise because I know his enthusiasm and dedication are not easily found, and he is someone that has ideas of his own, but isn't afraid to listen to others and help get the best of the ideas implemented.

Very good ideas to bring in the students bballraider. With the team we have coming back and hopefully an improved nonconference schedule, we can attract some casual fans too.
