I am curious as to what everyone will be looking for at our exhibition game? In order here is what I will be keeping an eye on. 1. Most of my curiosity will be on Cory Cooperwood. He comes in with a lot of hype and we will need him to be strong on the boards and help defend the post. I am hoping to see a physical player who really gets after it on the court. 2. Have Ronnie Thomas' injuries healed and will he be a factor for us in the paint. I'll be watching to see how RT moves on the court. 3. I want to see improvement from Will Graham at the point. I will be watching to see if he can push the tempo in transition and how well he organizes the team in our set offense. Will is a big key to our success this season especially with the status of JDG unknown. What will everyone else be looking for tomorrow night?

I'm interested in seeing the size of the crowd. Last year we drew around 1500. I'm hoping for 2500+.

4. Still waiting for someone to explain to me how brothers can be eight-inches apart in height. Half-brothers, I could understand that. But how in the heck are the Land brothers eight-inches apart. I feel sorry for the older bro. That must be rough. I say that in jest, I'm sure he doesn't care and he's also a baseball player (and you'd rather be 6-0 than 6-8 if you're a baseball player in most cases). But it's still strange! This isn't that uncommon, especially for brothers 2 years apart. Here's a Rival's story I read a few months ago about identical twins that are five inches apart: Collin Reddick and his twin brother Charlie are headed to FurmanSeptember 26, 2008 According to the Reddick's AAU coach Ryan Falker the twins are off the board. Throughout the recruiting process, the twins weren't sure they wanted to play at different programs. "In the past they said they wanted to go their own separate ways but when the rubber hit the road, they didn't want to be separated," Falker said. "They were able to find a place where they both could play but also get a great education like they can get at Furman." The academic edge the Paladins offered was the selling point, Falker said. Colgate, Harvard, Penn, SMU, South Florida, TCU and Tennessee Tech were also in the picture. "Both guys have a chance to have a $50,000 scholarship to go to school and get a great education," Falker said. "It didn't hurt that their family could come and see them play. The proximity combined with the academics sold them." Collin is a big bodied 6-foot-9 center that excels as a shot-blocker and rebounder. Charlie is a 6-foot-4 defensive stopper on the wing. rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=855475

I want to see physical play from our interior players. I think Cooperwood can be a physical player. I need to see that from Ronnie, Cooper, and Kyle before I'll be sold that this is an NCAA tournament team. If we can play tough inside though, look out HL.

I just want to see a healthy team. We need 12 healthy players this year.

I want to see Will Graham make good decisions with the ball at the end of the game and I want to see him make his free throws.

1. I don't care if we win or lose. 2. Cory Cooperwood-2 time juco all-american, a lot of hype, how will he fit 3. Ronnie Thomas at 100%-can he contribute anything this year? 4. Cooper Land-did he develop any inside game or can he put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket? or will he continue to be a 6'9 shooting guard 4. Will Graham-did he work on his jumper? Must be able to drive to the hoop and finish strong(how many lay-ups did he miss last year?) 5. Vaughn and Todd-did they become leaders? Todd especially, he disappeared at times last year. Vaughn not as vocal as I would like

We HAVE to win tonight. We are hyping the heck out of our home opener trying to bring in casual fans. Losing an exhibition game to a lower level team will ruin much of that hype.

Normally the out come of and exhibition game is not that big of a deal but like you mentioned with our big push for a huge crowd on Saturday a loss would be a severe blow to bringing the casual fan to the Illinios State game. Another thing I'll be curious to see is how well John David moves on the floor. With all his injuries will he be able to contribute much this year??? I am a huge John David fan so I am hopeful that he can tough it out and can at least give us ten minutes per game.

Well here is my response to what I saw. 1) Cory Cooperwood is what I was hoping he would be. He is aggressive, a solid defender, and probably our top rebounder. It doesn't hurt that he can shoot free throughs either. 2) Ronnie Thomas looked so much better then last year. Will he be a stud in the paint for us..........no but he is a big body that can defend the post. If we can get 5 points and 5 rebounds a game plus solid post defense he will be an asset to the team. Last year he seemed to struggle moving around the court with his foot injury but tonight he was moving much better. 3) Will didn't play a whole lot of minutes so it was hard to really get a feel for what he was doing. We just need solid minutes from him.

Will scored 8 points, dished out 2 assists, and had 2 steals in 19 minutes.
