Here is a quick look at UALR:
Point Guard
UALR starts a 6’7” PG Patterson (Ole Miss transfer) that does not score a lot but plays well at the point. He is also defends the perimeter well.
Shooting Guard
A walk-on sophomore starts at SG. 6’0” nothing 180lbs kid that looks to young to play high school ball. Matt Mouzy = Rudy. The kid compliments the other 4 starts really well. So good, that our only SBC all conference team player moved to the bench, Moore. Mouzy has unlimited range and a quick release. He leads the team in scoring at 15 a game. Mouzy single handily brought us back against Creighton.
Small Forward
6’4 Fowler is really fast in a straight line. Combined with the PG Patterson, the two can blow up the opponents offensive sets and lock down the arc.
Power Forward
6’7” Edwards has long arms and is quick to the basket off the dribble and can shoot from outside enough to make you guard him.
Center
6’8” 295lbs Smith has quick feet and will force double teams on the box. If he gets into foul trouble UALR is in trouble. He passes the ball back out and gets the shooters open looks. Mouzy can’t play without him.
Bench
The bench has three players that get minutes: 6’ SG Moore (instant offense or turnovers off the bench, you never know which), PG Foster is a true freshmen but backs up the PG, and PF 6’6” true Freshmen C. Jackson is a copy of Edwards. Offense is simple post up and get Smith the ball. Everything else comes off of the defenses reaction to that. Defense is man to man with good control of the arc. Little to no pressing or zone. It would be nice if one of the posters here would drop by our board (www.littlerocktrojans.com) and give us a look at your team.

This is like the third away game offered online for a fee. Why doesn't Wright State and the HL charge for the HLN. It doesn't make any sense to give away the same product other schools are charging $7.95 for.

On the way to a two-game weekendBy Marc Katz | Thursday, December 11, 2008, 10:23 AM FAIRBORN — Wright State completed an early-morning practice today and headed for the airport for arguably the toughest weekend of the season. Friday night, the 1-6 Raiders are at 6-1 Arkansas-Little Rock. Sunday, they’re at nationally-ranked Wake Forest for a 4 p.m. game on national television (Fox Sports Net). Ordinarily, this would be a great time to showcase the Raiders. Unfortunately, the team not only hasn’t been playing particularly well, but leading scorer Vaughn Duggins is out with a broken finger on his shooting hand and key reserves Troy Tabler and Kyle Pressley are also out with injuries, although Pressley hopes to be cleared to play in Friday’s game. This game with Little Rock was the last the Raiders scheduled, and was wedged in just before the Wake game, which isn’t the best situation. The Raiders have an early Saturday morning flight to Greensboro, N.C., then bus the hour to Winston-Salem where they will have a late Saturday practice at the Wake Forest facilities. Sunday, it’s game time again, and under the bright lights. “It’s disappointing not to be going at full strength,” WSU coach Bad Brownell said. “Going to Wake was a way to get our team exposure. We want people to see us in the best light. When we scheduled the game, we felt like we’d be doing well. Now, it looks like a tough situation. “It is what it is, and it’s not going away.” At least the Raiders have been playing better. Maybe this will be a breakout weekend. www.daytondailynews.com/o/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/wrightstatesports/

Trojans Return Home To Face Wright State Friday Night 12/11/2008 The UALR men’s basketball team returns to action Friday night when it welcomes Wright State to the Jack Stephens Center at 7 p.m. The 6-1 Trojans are ranked No. 9 in CollegeInsider.com’s latest Mid-Major Top 25, and will face a Wright State squad picked to finish second in the Horizon League. UALR is coming off a 69-66 win over preseason Summit League-favorite Oral Roberts on Monday. Junior Steven Moore led the Trojans with a season-high 19 points off the bench at ORU, while senior Shane Edwards and sophomore Matt Mouzy chipped in 13 points a piece. Moore and Mouzy combined to go 7-of-9 from three-point range against the Golden Eagles, helping the Trojans shoot 75.0 percent from beyond the arc as a team. The Trojans are off to a 6-1 start for the second-straight year and have four games remaining heading into the holiday break. Following Friday’s game, the Trojans host Northern Illinois on Sunday, Dec. 14 before traveling to FedExForum to take on the No. 15/17 Memphis Tigers on Wednesday, Dec. 17. After that, the Trojans return to the Jack Stephens Center for a showdown with in-state rival Arkansas State on Dec. 20. “Our main thing is to make sure we stay hungry as a team,” said UALR head coach Steve Shields. “We can’t have complacency set in. That is something that every coach fights, and with us having the leadership we have from our seniors I don’t see that happening.” Mouzy leads the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game and is shooting a team-best 44.2 percent from three-point range. Moore is second on the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game, despite coming off the bench in all five games he has played in. Moore has led the team in scoring as a reserve in UALR’s last two games, just as junior Wayne Burton has come off the bench to lead the team in rebounds in both games. Friday’s game will be the first-ever meeting between UALR and Wright State, with the Trojans traveling to Dayton, Ohio next season to complete the home-and-home series. The Raiders (1-6) picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, snapping a six-game losing streak with a 50-35 win over Toledo. Wright State, which won 21 games last season, was picked to finish second in the Horizon League in the conference’s preseason poll, but the Raiders are playing without their injured leading scorer and preseason First Team All-Horizon selection Vaughn Duggins. “Wright State is an extremely well-coached team, and even though they’ve struggled early, they have good experience and scoring back from last year’s 21-win team,” added Shields. The Trojans have won five straight at the Jack Stephens Center, where they are 32-15 all-time – including an 18-3 mark in non-conference games. Live video/audio streaming will be available to all Trojan Tracker subscribers for the UALR-Wright State game. The Trojan Tracker, which costs $7.95 per month, gives fans access to live and on-demand audio/video broadcasts of select away games and all home contests throughout the year. During the 2008-09 season the Trojan Tracker, through joint partnerships with JumpTV, will offer fans the chance to watch 26 of 29 regular season men’s basketball games. This is like the third away game offered online for a fee. Why doesn't Wright State and the HL charge for the HLN. It doesn't make any sense to give away the same product other schools are charging $7.95 for. I think it makes sense to give the webcast away for free. I pay ~$8 a month for access to all the trojan games and archived games. How many users could there be for a mid-major team with a very small following? Not many. I can't see ualr making much if any money off of it. I can't see them covering their costs. The WAC gave away their product for a year, maybe two, I watched WAC games on line and followed La Tech (where I played d1 sports) until they changed. I lived in Saint Louis and followed the Billikens for years. Now, I am in Little Rock and don't follow them at all but would if they did not charge for their webcast and radio. So what I am saying, is that is the small amount of money worth killing the introduction of new fans or distant fans? The whole Horizon League gives their webcasts away for free, right? Or at least they did for a while. I just think is a great way to build a following for leagues that can't get ESPN or the Fox Channels for pickup their games

www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/wsu/2008/12/12/ddn121208spwsubb.html?cxntnid=rc-121208Brownell searching for the right combination Preview: WSU (1-6) at Arkansas-Little Rock (6-1) By Marc Katz Friday, December 12, 2008 LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — With three returning starters, Wright State looked like it had, if not a veteran basketball team, one with considerable experience. That was seven games ago. Vaughn Duggins was the team's leading returning scorer, and Todd Brown was No. 2. Each logged 34.6 minutes of playing time. Will Graham averaged 30.1 minutes. Tonight, when the Raiders play at Arkansas-Little Rock, only one of them — Graham — might be in the starting lineup. Duggins is injured and will miss most of the month. Brown is in a horrible shooting slump. Suddenly, sophomore N'Gai Evans and junior John David Gardner are the starters at guard. Junior big man Ronnie Thomas — coming off knee and ankle problems — has started six games. Cory Cooperwood, a junior college transfer, is the only player to start every game. The other starting position has rotated. "We have a lot of different guys that are involved in things they haven't had to do (in the past)," WSU coach Brad Brownell said. "It's a different thing to be asked to do the job for 12 minutes than 30 minutes." Evans has progressed the most. As a freshman, he didn't even play in the first 10 games. Now, he's averaging 26.6 minutes. Gardner was contributing minutes last season, but as a reserve, until he twisted an ankle and missed 20 games. Now, Gardner's not only starting, he's playing more than 23 minutes a game. "Basically, at practice, Coach tells you to be ready," Evans said. "You go through the reps. It's not like it's new when you get into a game. It shouldn't be a surprise. You've just got to be ready, whether you're going to play or not. However many minutes they need me to play, I'm going to play it." Gardner feels the same way. "You've got to be prepared if you're going to play four minutes or 34 minutes," Gardner said. "The difference now is, I know when my number's being called. It's going to be called right from the start." All the lineup changes have not worked smoothly for the Raiders, who lost their first six games before defeating Toledo 50-35 on Tuesday, Dec. 9. "Every kid's different," Brownell said. "How long does it take them to adjust to your system? How long does it take to adjust to Division I? We didn't anticipate Vaughn being out. For a guy like N'Gai, it's on-the-job training." Thomas, who missed significant minutes last season to injuries, knows about that. "Last year, I'd come in and the game's already flowing, and I just popped in there," Thomas said. "This year, starting, I've got to deliver from the beginning. This is a bigger responsibility."

Game preview: Wright State (1-6) at Arkansas-Little Rock (6-1) By Marc Katz Friday, December 12, 2008 Time: 8 p.m. Where: Stephens Center, Little Rock Radio: WONE-AM (980), WIZE-AM (1340) Series: First meeting Starting lineups Wright State Cory Cooperwood Jr. 6-7 F 9.7 Ronnie Thomas Jr. 6-9 C 3.9 Will Graham Sr. 6-2 G 6.7 J.D. Gardner Jr. 6-4 G 7.3 N'Gai Evans So. 6-1 G 5.9 Little Rock John Fowler Sr. 6-4 F 10.0 Wayne Burton Jr. 6-8 F 2.5 Shane Edwards Sr. 6-7 G 9.3 B. Patterson Sr. 6-6 G 5.1 Matt Mouzy So. 6-0 G 14.0 About Ark.-Little Rock Trojans have already beaten Creighton, at home, 71-69, but also lost last week 59-37 at Missouri State. UALR shot just 23.4 percent in that game, 12.5 percent in the second half on the way to 21 turnovers. Trojans also missed 11-of-12 3-point shots, but rebounded well enough in their next game to beat Oral Roberts 69-66. Oral Roberts will be a WSU opponent in the San Juan Shootout next week. About Wright State Now that the elusive first victory is in the books, the Raiders have no room to breath easily as UALR has not lost at home and is coming off a 69-66 victory at Oral Roberts. Following this game, the Raiders do a quick turnaround and play at No. 11 Wake Forest on Sunday. Coach Brad Brownell has gone with three consistent starters the last five games — guards John David Gardner and N'Gai Evans along with inside man Cory Cooperwood — but has made changes at the other positions. Nine of the 12 scholarship players have started. Outlook While WSU's defense has been superb, there continue to be shooting deficiencies to address. Raiders made only 1-of-19 shots from beyond the 3-point line against Toledo, and the WSU coaches counted 12 of those shots as being wide open and three more being "as wide open or pretty close to wide open," said Brownell. "There were only two shots we considered bad." Opponents have shot better than 40 percent against UALR and nearly 36 from 3-point range, but WSU is making only 36 percent of its shots and a paltry 18 percent from the line. Quote "They're pretty good," Brownell said of the Trojans. "That's one reason why we found these guys. Nobody else wanted to play them. They're very good." www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/wsu/2008/12/12/ddn121208spwsuprev.html

I just think is a great way to build a following for leagues that can't get ESPN or the Fox Channels for pickup their games I think your problem is you don't have much of a following for your team. I think we would make money off of the HL network if we charged for it. Tonight is the second away game I've paid to see online. I would be more than happy to shell out 8 bucks a month to see us play. I go to all of our home games, but I would be more than happy to pay to see our away games. I think many of our nonconference opponents would pay to see their team play at the Nutt House.
