So much of our final record depends on if Vaughn can play this season. We still have eight home games left so I am hopeful that we can win out at home which would give us 17 wins plus if we can win one or maybe two road games we might sneak our way into a 20 win season. Most likely we can get to twenty wins with a win or two in the Horizon League tournament which would be quite an accomplishment considering we started 0-6.
I'm just glad we are playing better and we are at least talking about the possibility to get to twenty wins.

The more I think about it, the more important is seems to me that we get to 20 win for our final record. It is so much easier to market our program to potential fans and recruits if you can say we have had back to back to back 20 win seasons. Lets get it done Raiders!

I changed my vote to 19-20. This team is toughening up.

Some of you have very little confidence in the raiders . My vote is 19-20, leaning towards 20. I could even see 21, but the raiders are yet to really prove themselves on the road.

They still aren't home games. Big difference playing in a tiny gym with hardly any fans, and miles away from either campus and games like @ Wake Forest and @ Butler... Puerto Rico wasn't at the Nutt, but it sure wasn't a true ROAD game. There are NAIA schools with more hostile environments than what we played in at Puerto Rico... I'm still thinking 18 regular season wins if we finish the season poorly against Milwaukee and Green Bay at home, but I say we have a very legit chance at 21. Remember if we don't get 2nd in the HL we have to make up 2 games in the tournament. Kindof a cheap way to pick up wins but I hope it doesn't come down to that. We could get as high as 22 but I say we'll get right at 20 when all is said and done.

1/29 @ YSU 1/31 @ CLEV 2/05 VAL 2/07 BUT 2/10 @ L-IL 2/14 DET 2/18 @ UIC 2/26 UWM 2/28 UWGB
Wake up people! smell the rowdy dogs!
Are we really going to lose 3 of these remaining games? i think not. However, these next two games will be a test, and have a huge impact on the rest of the season. But wait, we are playing great right now! Just think, if we win these 2 on the road, we will then go on to beat valpo and butler at home for two reasons: momentum, and home court advantage. And, with that momentum at our backs we will play at Loyola, this should be a win. And then, Detroit at the Nut? Win. After that, we play @ UIC? Hmm..we just humiliated them..they owe us one...but i gotta say that should also be a win. Take that enormous win streak into a home game against UWM, who beat us already this year (then it was bad, now i think it works to our advantage) and have proven not so tough as of late. I just got to go with the raiders on that one as well. I think GB will actually be a tough team, but we can shut big scorers down, like Tilema , for example.
Look Guys, of course Butler could beat us, they are an elite team. Cleveland State could get us at Cleveland State but look at the way they have been playing lately. So who are we afraid of here? Why so many of us voting 18 wins? Don't fear a little optimism. To me, if we won only 18 games, that would be a let down. Number 2 defense in the country? And we're scared to say that the crew of Tabler, Evans, Land, Thomas etc. are capable of such a feat. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with many of these young players coming into this season, they have well exceeded my expectations.
"offense win games, defense wins championships"
Go Raiders!

It's not fear. It's called respecting your opponent and making a realistic projection based on history. We barely beat YSU and CSU at home. I think both of them are going to be hard to beat on the road. We have also lost to UWM, UWGB, and Butler this year, so those aren't "gimme" games. We have rarely made a trip to Chicago and swept both Illinois teams. We also have a team leader who is day to day with a hip injury. Those are all legit reasons to think we might not win 8 of our last 10 to finish with 20 wins.
We are all rooting for our Raiders to win, but many of us have been following WSU hoops for several decades. We can make realistic predictions without the input of some 20 y/o who thinks he can lecture to us about what he "thinks" he knows about basketball.

I didn't provide my age so that it could be used against me by an old fart who reminds me of certain other old farts who just love to mention the good 'ole days and who choose to go on about the youth of today and how we are completely clueless. Please. Go ahead and say what you will, old fellow, since age seems to be your discriminatory weapon of choice. Clearly, that is an argument that I cannot win. And while I have not been around for many decades, dragging my old ass in and out of the ervin j nutter center, it almost seems irrelevant to bring up a past which draws very few similarities to the current system under Brownell in which we've seen an unprecedented amount of success. Oh and please oh please mention the 1982? 83? Div II National Championship Team so that the young ones can sit back and admire your raider round ball expertise and your historical perspective and what not. Its a new day, Sir, with all due respect to you and yours. If I didn't feel strongly about the amt in which we have improved as a team since those losses (excluding butler @ butler which is to be expected), I would not be so confident. But it is not some ridiculous feat as you frame it to be. Depending on how you frame it you can make it sound impossible, well done, and point taken. But man, you should be old enough to know that even those of us who are younger than yourself deserve some respect. Please, hold out on mocking me so much. Maybe I know more about basketball than you think, maybe not, but its hardly logical to sit back at your desk, cubicle, or whatever it is that you have confused with a high horse and trash me based on my age and what experience you "think" I have had. You don't have to make this an age thing, you know.

I believe the point Irish was trying to make is that none of us need to be lectured to by you because we didn't vote the way you wanted us to in the poll.
When you are a bit older and wiser, you might get his point about learning from history and not history from 1982. You can look at Brownell's first 2 seasons here and learn from them. You can even learn from what has happened earlier this season. Based on earlier this season, we barely beat YSU and CSU at home and we lost to UWM, UWGB, and Butler. I agree with Irish in that none of these games are going to be easy.
In regards to us old farts who drag our old asses in and out of the Nutter Center. You might want to lay off. Guys like Irish and myself paid for the Nutter Center to be built. Without our old asses, you would be watching our Raiders play games at Stebbins HS.

Like I said, I'm not here to talk about who is older and who is wiser. It may sound as though I am attacking all of you. (I don't see why you would take it that way anyways). I feel a certain way and I just want to better understand where people like you and Irish are coming from. Now I know, thanks so much, really. I just want my opinion to be respected as well as all others on this board. If Irish would have responded in a respectful manner, and simply stated the facts which you just reiterated, I would likely have saved that spiel for another old fart, and I would have told him "good point" or something. But instead, he treated me like dirt. I don't care if he built the nut house with his bare hands, he does not reserve the right to disrespect me.
Oh yeah sure, its all about this little poll, isn't it? Golly if I could just get you guys to switch your votes we could change the outcome of the season..the world!
See what I mean, your mocking me I hope you know.
