My daughter and I are planning on going to Hinkle on Friday. Is there any particular section for which WSU fans are getting tickets?

Preview: Wright State vs. Wisconsin-MilwaukeeBy Marc Katz Friday, March 06, 2009 Time: 6 p.m. Radio: WONE-AM (980), WIZE-AM (1340) Where: Hinkle Field House, Indianapolis Records: UW-Milwaukee 17-13; Wright State 19-12 Series: UWM leads 21-17. WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE Tony Meier Fr. 6-8 F 6.7 James Eayrs Jr. 6-7 F 11.5 Avery Smith Sr. 6-3 G 11.3 Ricky Franklin Sr. 6-1 G 9.1 Tone Boyle Jr. 6-2 G 13.4 WRIGHT STATE Cory Cooperwood Jr. 6-7 F 9.3 Ronnie Thomas Jr. 6-9 F 3.9 Todd Brown Jr. 6-5 G 12.0 Will Graham Sr. 6-3 G 5.2 N'Gai Evans So. 6-1 G 6.3 About Milwaukee Panthers have won two straight but only three of their last eight. One of those victories, however, came against Butler on Feb. 18. Milwaukee has won 13 of its last 17 games against WSU, the four losses all coming at the Nutter Center ... Franklin is averaging 15.3 points in his last seven games, and Eayrs is averaging 17.4 in his eight games as a starter ... Boyle and Eayrs made Horizon League's All-Newcomer team, while Boyle also made second-team all-league ... About Wright State Raiders have won three straight and five of their last seven, including a 70-60 decision over Milwaukee on Feb. 26. "We can beat them," WSU junior guard Todd Brown said, "but we can't afford any slipups." Guard John David Gardner, who was supposed to have hip surgery Thursday, was postponed by the Ohio State Hospital, where the surgery was to be done. No replacement date has been set ... FYI Raiders won this tournament two years ago, and were ousted in this second round last season, by Valparaiso. The No. 1 seed (this year, Butler) has won the last four tournaments, and no team seeded lower than No. 2 has won since 2002 when No. 6 UIC won. Quote, unquote "Both teams won't have to go back to the archives to figure out what each team is trying to do. The preparation is not a problem. We'll know what each team's strengths are." — WSU coach Brad Brownell www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/wsu/2009/03/06/ddn030609spwsuprev.html

Wright State needs another scoring threatBy Marc Katz Friday, March 06, 2009 FAIRBORN — It can't hurt to have a little help scoring. "You can definitely see it on tape, how they guard other players and how they guard me," said Todd Brown, Wright State's only consistent scorer entering tonight's second-round Horizon League Tournament game against Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. "They focus on me. Especially when I go by their bench, if I get a little bit open, they're screaming, 'Todd Brown, Todd Brown, get him,' or whatever." If they do "get him," Brown just passes the ball. "I know I can't do it by myself," Brown said. "If somebody's open, I'll try to find them. If other people are scoring, that takes the focus off me." The focus shifted to Brown early in the season when Vaughn Duggins went down with a finger injury, and even more when John David Gardner exited after hurting his hip 12 games ago. Brown, who averaged nearly 13 points a game last season, began this one with a torturous shooting touch. After 11 games, he was averaging 4.6 points, had posted just two 10-point games and had been shut out three times. In the 20 games since, Brown has averaged 16. "Now, I'm hitting shots," he said. It's just that he could use some help. In the 17 games in which only two or fewer Raiders connect for double figures, the team is 8-9. In the games in which three or more Raiders score 10 or more points, WSU is 11-3. Wright State has won three straight, and in two of those games, had three players score in double figures. "You certainly need that," WSU coach Brad Brownell said. "I hope it's a good trend, but it has to continue. More guys are going to have to do it consistently. In order to win a tournament and win games consecutively, you generally need several guys to step up." www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/wsu/2009/03/06/ddn030609spwsubb.html

Horizon League championship at Nutter? It could happenBy Marc Katz Thursday, March 05, 2009 FAIRBORN — The Raiders left here for Indianapolis at 11 a.m. Thursday and held a mid-afternoon workout at Hinkle Fieldhouse, home of the Butler Bulldogs and site of tonight's second-round games in the Horizon League Tournament. In addition to being on the brink of a third straight 20-win season — something they haven't accomplished since their best pre-1987 Division II days — they're playing Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a shot at No. 1 seed Butler on Saturday. Tickets for tonight's game are $15, and Saturday's — if the Raiders advance — are $12— and can be picked up at the WSU Will Call in the West Gymnasium starting at 5:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. game. Two games will be played each night. Tonight, March 6, No. 5 seed Milwaukee (17-13) vs. No. 4 seed Wright State (19-12), 6 p.m., followed by No. 7 seed Illinois-Chicago (16-14) vs. No. 3 seed Cleveland State (22-10) at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, winner Milwaukee-WSU vs. No. 1 Butler (25-4) at 7 p.m., followed by winner of UIC-CSU vs. No. 2 Wisconsin Green Bay (22-9) at 9 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on ESPNU. The two winners of Saturday's games will meet Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ESPN to determine the Horizon League champion. That game will be played at the home of the highest-remaining seeded team and, yes, WSU has a chance to be that place. All that has to happen (and it's a long shot but not impossible), is for WSU to win its two games and UIC to make it through the upper bracket. The championship game at the Nutter Center? Wouldn't that be fun? www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/college/wsu/2009/03/05/ddn030609raiderconnection.html?cxntnid=rc-030609
