Don't put me in a position to argue against the '93 team which will always hold special memories for me. But are you talking about the team that didn't even win the regular season league championship (finished third I think) and probably would not have went to the Dance if not for the fact that the pre-determined site of the conference tourney was the Nutter Center? The '07 team won the regular season title (over a damn good Butler team -- they were better than any Mid-Con team from the '93 season) We were co-champs with Butler in 2007. We hosted the tournament because of the tie breaker rules.

the 1993 team would have eaten the 2007 team alive. They were more athletic and had an inside presence. There isn't a chance in hell Pleiman could have defended Nahar or Burelson could have defended Edwards.
WSU got a lower seed in 1993 because we were coming out of the Mid-Con and it was our first trip to the dance.

The 1993 team would have smoked the 2007 team. We won in 2007 because we were perfectly matched up with another slow half court team in Butler. We struggled against athletic teams. Hell, we got waxed by YSU right before the HL tournament started. You are delusional if you think Burelson and Pleiman could have matched up against Edwards and Nahar.
The 1993 team had: Bill Edwards: 2303 points, 907 rebounds. Mike Nahar: 1080 points, 498 rebounds. Sean Hammonds: 1573 points, 828 rebounds. Mark Woods: 1216 points, 744 assists.
They were all upperclassmen and played like it. Todd Brown of 2007 is not the Todd Brown of today and neither was the Vaughn Duggins we know now. They were both true freshmen and had the ups and down of true freshmen.

I loved what the 2007 achieved, but I don't think they could have hung with the 1993 team. Most of the 2007 team would have fouled out trying to play Brownell's Defense vs the superior athletes we had in 1993.

They were all good teams. There is no reason to rip one team down to elevate another.

I love the 2007 team. Being that it was my first season of going to all of the home games. I will remember that year because at the begining barley anyone came to games. The student section was so small. I remember watching us lose to BG at home. And then all of sudden we played out of this world. I was not even born in 1983 yet lol and in 1993 i was to young. Every Raider team though is my favorite.

Just like riceownz2, I have no way to compare the 2007 team to any of the others. I had been a student at WSU for starting in 2004-2005. The best thing about the 2007 team was that it was such a surprise. Nobody expected us to do anything until Brownell's third or fourth year. It was a rebuilding project, but all of a sudden BAM! WSU has more wins than ever in D-1 and we go to the tourney. The student section prior to that year was absolutely pathetic, but suddenly we were running out of tickets and pouring over into other sections. I had commented time and time again prior to that season that I would never see the Nutter Center sold out while I was a WSU student, but I've never been so elated to be wrong. I think that's what made that 2007 season so exciting. No expectations from a roster depleted by transfers turned into a campus filled with pride, two defeats of a nationally ranked (deservedly so) league rival, and a trip to the tourney. Whether or not it was a better team than the others I can't say, but was certainly one of the most exciting teams I've ever witnessed on any level.

Too bad you weren't around back in 1993. Selling out the Nutt Nouse wasn't such an uncommon thing. We averaged 7150 fans a game that year.

I can't believe the '83 squad isn't getting more love in this poll. Too many newbies I guess. Interesting comment from someone who was seven years old when we won our 1983 National Championship.

What does that have to do with anything? That was my first year attending WSU basketball games and I remember it well. You don't have good sports memories from when you were 7-8? I have great sports memories from when I was 7, but at the same time I understand that those memories are extremely biased based on my age. It is much easier to impress a 7 year old than it is to impress an adult because that 7 year old has no previous experiences to compare his memory to. I think any adult would agree that the memories we form when we were 7 are much more biased than those we make as an adult.

All 3 teams were great teams for us and fun to watch. But I think our 2007 team was the biggest thrill for me. It was a magical year and Wood was such a dynamic leader on the court. We have to hope that this coming season can match that excitement and outcome.

DaShaun had a great senior year, but Bill was much better. DaShaun averaged 19.6 points as a senior. Bill averaged 25.2 points and 9.6 rebounds as a senior.

Bill averaged a half point more, but I think a case could be made that he played against a somewhat softer schedule than Wood. But why quibble, they were both great players that the team could rely on time and time again. I might be wrong, but I'm hoping that Mr. Koch will be that type of player over the next four years.
Just a thought. We missed Vaughn last year, but man I'm happy to have him for the next two seasons, if he elects to stay.

I had to go with the 83 team. It was my freshman year and it totally hooked me on WSU hoops. I use to love going to the PE building for games.
No doubt I also enjoyed the 93 & 07 teams as well.

Rock, you might want to update your profile. You have your birthday listed as 06/29/1982. It is either wrong or you were the youngest freshman ever admitted to WSU.
