I just found it interesting on coach Brownell's radio show on Monday that when talking about our recruits who just signed that he described Cory Stanton as a combo guard who is primarily a point guard who can also play the two guard. Now this isn't exactly news to any of us but then he proceeded to say the Darrian is also a combo guard but he considers him more of a two that can also play the point.
I mention this because some on the boards have talked about Darrian playing more minutes at the point this season but I think coach Brownell really doesn't see Darrian as a true point guard.
What gets me excited about the future is the thought of Cory and Darrian playing on the floor at the same time. Anytime your two guard has above average ball handling skills it is a bonus and I think Carthon definitely has above average ball handling skills. I think those two will have a very productive career as Raiders and really be a strong guard tandem in the Horizon League.

Coach always likes to have 2 guards on the court with PG skills. If you think back, we had Duggins, Graham, and Wood splitting time his first year. Duggins, Gardner, Graham, and Evans last year. Duggins, Gardner, Evans, and Cartharn this year. He likes to have 2 smart guards that can bring the ball up the court and run our offense at all times. Most of those guys weren't "true" PGs, but they all have PG skills.

Cartharn didn't start playing PG until his senior year of high school. He is just going to get better with experience.

From the video I have seen, Cory is a PG with a good jump shot, which makes him capable of playing SG also. I watched Cartharn last year, and I would describe him more as a shooter who can handle the ball fairly well, thus he is better suited as a SG over PG, but capable of playing both positions.

If both of them are on the floor at the same time, we will have two guys easily under 6' as our backcourt. That is my only concern. But really i dont know if it matters. Both are going to be highly explosive players. I'm glad this is something we have to worry about lol.

Our coaching staff is going to have a great problem to have next year--too much talent at guard. I don't know where we are going to get minutes for Evans, Cartharn, Stanton, Duggins, Tabler, and Clark. We should be pretty amazing.

We all know we have solid depth at guards. If our new big men can provide some depth next year, we are going to be solid next year.

Cooper Land is playing well this year and should give us one solid option next year at PF. The jury is still out on Darkwa. He has the size, athletic ability and work ethic to be good, but right now he is a work in progress. Neither Pacher or Darling look big enough to step right in and start without some work in the weight room. I really hope we can land a JUCO post that can step right in and replace Ronnie. If we land one, we could be very good next year.

Next year is looking like a year we can run and gun maybe. Am I spacing but who is Clark?

Tyler has always been considered a 3.

I really like everything I have seen in Cartharn so far this year and I love the video of Stanton. They have the potential to be one of the most athletic sets of guards we have had here in years.
