Grading the coaching changesJeff Goodman, FoxSports.com... WRIGHT STATEThe Old: Brad Brownell The New: Billy Donlon Here’s another one that should be a home run. Brownell leaves and Wright State gives it to a rising star in Donlon, who will have a difficult task in replacing Brownell but should be up to the challenge. Grade: B+ msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/grading-the-coaching-changes-042810

Skinner to Rutgers gains momentumFormer Boston College coach Al Skinner met with Rutgers officials yesterday regarding the school's head coaching vacancy and is believed to be strong in the running for the position. Skinner was helped by calls of support from Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and North Carolina coach Roy Williams, as well as Eddie Jordan, who played at Rutgers and was recently fired as the coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. Skinner may have moved up to be the leading contender for the job and Rutgers is expected to announce its hire soon, possibly early next week. www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/182670-skinner-to-rutgers-gains-momentum?eref=fromSI

ROBERT MORRIS NEED NOT LOOK FAR FOR REPLACEMENT Tuesday, May 4, 2010 Xavier did it with Chris Mack. Butler did so with Brad Stevens. More recently, Northern Colorado (B.J. Hill) Sam Houston (Jason Hooten) and Green Bay (Brian Wardle) all handed the job to the next guy in line to keep the continuity in the program. That’s what should happen at Robert Morris now that Mike Rice has gotten the Rutgers job. Andy Toole has been Rice’s right-hand man for the past three seasons while the Colonials have made three consecutive postseason appearances – including two consecutive NCAA bids. Toole, 29, played two seasons at Penn and got his start with the Hoop Group before spending a year at Lafayette and the last three at RMU. His hiring will also likely ensure that none of the young guys will bolt and transfer elsewhere. Toole recruited the talented freshman backcourt of Karon Abraham and Velton Jones – which will be the core of the program for the next three years community.foxsports.com/goodmanonfox/blog/?pref_tab=blog

ROBERT BURKE GETS MOUNT ST. MARY'S It’s crazy how things work out. Yesterday, Mo Cassara went from a Hofstra assistant who was nearly unemployed to the head coach of the Pride. Today it’s American University assistant Robert Burke – who was let go by Georgetown out of nowhere a year ago – who will be hired as the next head coach at Mount St. Mary’s. According to sources, Burke will be officially introduced at a news conference on Monday. Burke, 44, was on John Thompson III’s staff at Georgetown and also spent four years with JT3 at Princeton before he was forced out after the 2009 campaign. Burke has also been an assistant at Siena, Loyola-Marymount and UMBC. community.foxsports.com/goodmanonfox/blog/?pref_tab=blog

CALHOUN INKS DEALUConn coach Jim Calhoun finally inked his new contract - a five-year, $13 million deal. Call me cynical, but I just don't see Calhoun, who turns 68 on Monday, making it until he's well into his 70s. However, UConn needed to do this for a few reasons - primarily due to the fact that the Huskies were getting crushed in recruiting of late with Calhoun's recent health issues. The key for UConn is what will happen when the time comes that Calhoun calls it a career. AD Jeff Hathaway would, per sources, like to go in a different direction outside of the Calhoun family while the pick within the Calhoun family is likely Quinnipiac head coach Tom Moore. community.foxsports.com/goodmanonfox/blog/?pref_tab=blog
