This game is a big one for several reasons!!
1) Its important to beat the local programs for recruiting within the area
2) As stupid as it has become, its still a measuring stick with that team across town
3) Personal reasons for myself: My parents are MU grads and myself and brother WSU.
4) Keep momentum rolling into the Holiday break.

If you look at our recruiting board and their recruiting board, we probably overlap in about 1/2 of the kids we recruit. They have gotten the better of us in recent years. We need to get back on a winning track with them.

Todd Brown drilling a 3 in the corner to beat Miami a few years ago is still one of my favorite Raider memories...I'm hoping for something similar Saturday night!

We jumped up to 140 in the RPI after our win over CMU.
Miami currently sits at 128.

ok, rock, you are going to have to explain this one to me. we have been told a number of times that we need to play div ii teams because if we play div i teams with low rpi it will hurt our rpi and affect our off season. i think cmu had an rpi of 250+ and yet our rpi got better after beating them. maybe it is more the losing to high rpi teams than it is to playing them.

I have only looked forward to two home games this year to date, Oakland and now Miami. I think this game is huge for us as we near our upcoming games with Mil. and GB. If we can win against a solid team like Miami it will be the final signal that we can compete with ALL the HL teams. The Oakland win was our first verification of that and the two close losses in Chicago and the loss to UC did as well.
I wish our freshmen could have been healthier than they have been and gotten more PT, but it is what it is. I just hope they can be game ready by the time Mil./GB come to town. Those are games we need to win, and I think we can win.

KFX, I'm going to guess that our RPI jump had little to do with who we beat, yet more to do with WHERE, and the fact that Oakland beat Tenn. on the same night. Probably more the Oakland game than the road win though. Just my .02

On paper it doesn't appear that we match up particularly well with Miami. Miami's strength is its three interior players and with us running a four guard attack a majority of the time it will be interesting to see if we can stop their forwards on the defensive end. What really concerns me is Miami's girth.
Here is a look at Miami's big 3:
Mavunga 6-8 232 lbs - 13.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg
Winbush 6-7 224 lbs - 11.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 39% from the 3's
Ballard 6-4 208 lbs - 10.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg, shoots over 50% from the field.
All three average over 6 rebounds per game and all score in double figures.
Winbush appears to be more of a perimeter player since he has already taken almost 80 three point shoots this season but Ballard and Mavunga tend to do most of their work in the paint. My biggest concern is stopping Ballard and Mavunga in the paint. Our post defense is our weakness so this plays right into Miami's strength.
This is a big game for us so I'm hopeful that we are hot from the perimeter and can play enough interior defense to come out on top.

Was at the Nutt C again and caught a little bit of the mens practice. Was not sure if I liked what I saw, there was a lot of missed shots. Duggins was doing some of the drills but didnt play when they scrimmaged. Vest was doing is own thing. And Battle looked sharp. I really hope we can win this game!!

I don't think I could be more pumped up for this game. Who's going tomorrow? There needs to be some serious Raider Pride in the NC tomorrow.
WE ARE, WRIGHT STATE!

I will DEFINITELY be there (with a bunch of miami family). Reading some comments on this thread though, I'm a little concerned and it sounds like most of us are!! We took down Oakland in the NC, we need to make sure Miami is CAKE

Well we all also know that the environment can completely turn the tides in a game. We need to get the Raiders out in force for tomorrow's game.
Hopefully it'll be up on Facebook tonight, getting some hype going.

I absolutely love the energy and passion you guys bring to the Raiders! Even though most students have left for Christmas break I'm still hopeful that we get a respectable student turnout.
