Raiders Sign Point Guard May 6, 2011 Reggie Arceneaux, a 5-8 point guard at Olympic High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Wright State University and play basketball for the Raiders next year, WSU head coach Billy Donlon announced Friday. The North Carolina native averaged 15.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists this past season while being named the MEGA 7 Conference Player of the Year. He led the Trojans to a 28-2, 12-0 record, both new school marks. Arceneaux also has been named all conference three times and all district twice. "Reggie brings speed and toughness to the point guard position which our team needs, Donlon said. "He has been a winner his entire basketball career. I want to thank the entire basketball staff for their hard work in completing our recruiting class. The assistants have signed a player at every position, which brings balance to our team." Arceneaux also received honors as NCPreps Class 4A All State Team and second team by the Charlotte Observer and played in the Charlotte Pro Am All-Star Game. "Reggie has been our starting point guard since his sophomore year and all he has done in that time is lead us to 39 conference wins in a row and counting, three straight conference regular season championships, three straight conference tournament championships, a state sectional championship, and this past season a school record of 28-2," Olympic head coach Ty Buamgardner said. "The kid is a flat out winner! Coach Donlon and Wright State University is getting a true point guard in every sense of the word. His leadership, toughness, and competitive drive just separated him from everybody else. He was the heart and soul of this team." WSU finished last year at 19-14 overall and will take a 10-day Italian Tour August 20-30. During the early signing period, the Raiders inked 6-4 guard Kendall Griffin, 6-8 forward Alex Pritchett and 6-9 forward Tavares Sledge. Recently, Donlon signed 6-3 guard Jason Cuffee and 6-2 junior college guard John Balwigaire. www.wsuraiders.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/050611aaa.html
