Based on effort and performance in the OU game, I hope we change up the starting line up. If Mays is healthy, he should still start. I would give Reggie the nod at PG. I would go with Matt Vest at the 3. I would go with Cole at the 4 and Tavares at the 5. I think that group gives us the best chance to be competitive.

I don't think it matters who starts or comes off the bench for that matter if we aren't going to change up the offense. Donlon's system isn't working and until he trys something different I don't see any change in the results on the court.

I would even venture to say that on top of the poor offensive play-calling, the lack of talent on our roster might not even be capable of producing results with a different offense.

I would even venture to say that on top of the poor offensive play-calling, the lack of talent on our roster might not even be capable of producing results with a different offense. There is plenty of talent on this team to be successful. We have already shown that we can play with the best team in the HL. We were 0.2 seconds from taking CSU to OT. We also held our own against top 10 Florida. We are a really poor shooting team this year. That does not mean there isn't talent here. If Brownell was our coach still, we would be above .500 right now. Anyone that watched him coach his first year at WSU remembers that WSU really struggled much of the year learning his motion offense. He ran a lot of set plays to create offense. Donlon isn't doing that. We don't have great shooters. When you don't shoot well from 3, you need to crash the offensive glass to get second chance shots. He doesn't let his players do that. Once a shot goes up he wants everyone transitioning back to the defensive end of the court. A good high school coach would have this team spend part of the game in full court press to help create some offense and he would send at least 3 guys to the offensive boards every time a shot goes up to try to get some easy buckets. Donlon needs to adapt to the team he has or we can expect the same results the rest of the year.

We run a terrible offense. We shoot 37% and NEVER have any guys crashing the boards. At least three WSU jerseys instantly retreat when a shot is put up. Our defense is weaker than it's been in what, 5, 6 years. We continue to fail with the line ups that are rotated in, yet don't give the guys on the end of the bench a chance until 10 minutes left down by 30. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 or more of the guys transfer. If Billy doesn't get his shit together it's gonna be a long season and maybe some seasons to come. This team is a joke. I doubt if attendance increases during league play this year either unless it's a 180 degree difference of what we've seen so far

I agree with just about everything you have all said, especially the fact that we don't send people to the offensive glass. I think there is a little bit of talent on this team but not enough to win the league which is our ultimate goal. Maybe down the road when this group is a little older and hopefully stronger we can compete for the league title. We are still the weakest team on the floor every night as it relates to strength. Cole, AJ, Battle, and Tavares just aren't strong enough to bang in the post. They get knocked off of their shot all the time. We really need to win these next couple of games before the league games start again. Raider Up!!!!

I agree. These next two games loom very large in my mind. We either need to win these two games or at least play good basketball and take the games down to the end. If we fail to do that, I feel it bodes very badly for our HL season. I felt optimistic about the team after the CSU and YSU games. That has all been erased from my mind after these recently lost games. SOMEBODY has to step up and lead this team. I was thinking we should send the team into a room to elect a leader, but then I realized they may never find their way back.

Of course these guys have talent (except Mpondo) or they wouldn't be here, but it's not anything exceptional Especially when compared to what WSU has had in the past. An offensive adjustment really doesn't matter if you can't make shots...and we can't.

Won't be surprised if we get smacked at home again tomorrow. Depends on Mays' playing time, but Idaho is ranked sixth nationwide in three point shooting (42%) and eighth in field goal percentage (50%). I don't think we can contain them enough defensively to hang in it with our slumping offense.

Mays will probably play his normal minutes. He wanted to play against OU. He was held out as a precautionary measure.
