"We’re not so concerned about the wins and losses as we are of our performance.” I spoke to some of the team for an article for the Guardian this week and that is the mentality of the team too. They're focusing more on fundamentals and limiting mistakes this year. They're setting personal goals for themselves and judging themselves based on those. They understand they're likely not going to win the league this year and the focus is about improving the program for the years to come.

TBRF, first I'd like to say, nice job on the various things I've read from your work in The Guardian...second, hope you have no intention of changing locations at basketball games...football wants us to pay to watch them improve? Sorry, and I know it's not your doing, but expecting to win is more of a priority to me I guess ( as many times as I went to watch them at Bellbrook, we could have waited a few years to provide a home field, I'm thinking ).

First, thanks. I finally found a major I really like and am passionate about. Had my epiphany during my 5th year when I was about to student teach. Hopefully I'll graduate someday! Second, I made sure I could stay in the student section at the basketball games and still cover the games, so no, I won't be going anywhere. And third, football is really on life support. Spring practice sometimes was less than 10 players on occasion. They've got about 30 guys now I would say. They're still a ton of fun to go see (and never lost at home!)

Guess I don't want to pick on football too much but, with the success in the past and the nice field on campus it seems a shame to find a "start from scratch" feeling. I know some kids that wanted to play but couldn't afford to stay in school, some wanted to play but couldn't keep the grades up. As long as they play representing WSU, I'll wish them the best.
