I just checked the women's roster and was surprised to see that we have six new names. Gone from last year's roster are Katrina Blackmon(F), Sarah Hunter(F), and surprisingly Kirsten Gliesmann(F) as well as our two seniors from last season. We have also added a 14th player in addition to the above 5 players.
We'll have a lot of new faces to watch this season between the two teams.

Gliesmann is now at the University of Indianapolis.
Hunter played in 32 games, started 10 of them. Blackmon and Gliesmann had no starts, but started at least 12 games.
It'll be interesting to see how the Raiders do this season. It's a tough schedule for the women!

One of the things I like about the women's team is that they have good height. I think there are 7 players between 5'11" and 6'3". If I recall correctly the men only have 4 players at 6'6" or taller, Yoho 6'6", Sledge 6'9", Darling 6'8", and AJ at 6'10". Davis, who is sitting out, is at 6'7". With Sledge and AJ being very prone to fouling, I can see us hurting for a lack of rebounding and inside defense. With the women I don't think they will have that same shortage, or potential shortage, due to fouls, injuries, and illness.
I really hope that Davis focuses on his academics and weight/muscle gain this year. And before next season I'd like to see us add another big man.

And before next season I'd like to see us add another big man. Unless we kick someone off the team, that isn't going to happen. We don't have any scholarships for next year.

Given national stats it seems likely that at least one or two young men will transfer. If so, I'd like us to add at least one big man.

We cannot afford to have players transfer out anytime soon. We had way too many kids transfer over the last 3 years. Our APR is going to take a big hit if that keeps happening and we are going to end up losing a scholarship or 2.

We are kind of in a catch 22 situation. We don't have a scholarship available for next year but need to add another big man. If we really want to add someone that can contribute next year we need to sign a big man this fall. There usually aren't too many big men left in the spring. The problem is what does it do to team morale if we sign a big man this fall. Someone knows they are going to lose their scholarship next year if that happens.

Longtime Valparaiso Head Coach Keith Freeman is now an assistant coach at Wright State, replacing Harry Elifson (who's at Florida Atlantic University.)
How does everyone think this will change the team?

How does everyone think this will change the team? I don't think it does anything for us. He was a crappy coach at Valpo so I don't think it gives us any kind of advantage.

I don't know if Coach Freeman will help the women's basketball program or not ( they seem to be doing fine ) but, I think the hire was a good one as far as replacing Elifson. I like having a veteran coach to assist on the bench.
