I agree with KFX. Pressure is still there to win the league not to finish in the top half. We were picked to finish 1 or 2 in the league so I think there is lots of pressure to finish with an NCAA play in game at the least.

He's been away from the program for a long time, so who knows if/when he'll be back up to speed this year. I would think he'd have to be as good as Davis (our least-used big guy*) to get significant pt this year.
One argument would be that he's an extra body and an extra set of fouls. He was very prone to fouls before, which might wind up being a negative. It will be a big adjustment to not only get used to the speed of the game again, but also the new foul rules.
If he can catch up quick or at least show enough rapid improvement to be where Donlon wants him to be at the end of the season he will probably play.
*big guy in our system

Sledge is the only player on our roster that doesn't get pushed around under the bucket. Comparing Davis to Sledge is like comparing Reggie to Kendall. They play 2 completely different positions. Sledge is a center. Davis plays the 3 or the 4 for us.

I'm sure Coach D and all will make the best decision based on what's best for Tavares. As someone who made quite a few lefts as a young cat when I should have went right I'm glad he's back. What happens from here will be up to him. I'll be rooting for him and all involved...

I think Donlon cares about his players but I also think he will make the decision based on what is in his best interest. If all he cared about was his players, Miles Dixon would have redshirted this season. I think Sledge will play this year. Donlon needs him on the court.

Bomber, I am not sure that is fair. If miles had redshirted I think we would have been short a scholarship next year. Also, we do not know if miles would have wanted to redshirt.

I don't think Miles had an option to redshirt. This is his 5th year of college basketball.

I don't think Miles had an option to redshirt. This is his 5th year of college basketball. Coach talked about Miles possible redshirting before the regular season started. I don't think it would have been a problem if it was a medical red-shirt. The NCAAs allow for a 6th year all of the time when it is for a medical reason.

"Kendall Griffin out for this weekend. JT Yoho has an ankle injury and is out for multiple weeks."

Well that means is others will get their chance to play like Davis and Howell. I think we will be ok with the athleticism they have if we use it. Yoho is our best 3 point shooter in my opinion and if he is not going to play we are going to be hurting on 3 point shooting. More than likely we will see zone defense to dare us to shoot and make them. As far as I remember Valpo don't press much so that might help us a little getting down the court quicker.

Injury news for Wright State: Kendall Griffin and J.T. Yoho will miss Friday and Sunday's games. Jerran Young, AJ Pacher questionable. If Young and Pacher are out our roster would be: Darling 6'8" (with shoes on) Sledge 6'9" Davis 6'7" Vest 6'5" Hopkins 6'1" Dixon 6'1" Howell 5'10" Arceneaux 5'9" plus: The Goose 6'6" Collie 5'11" In a very strange way, part of me wants to see Young and Pacher sit. Obviously the first reason is to get fully healthy for the long haul instead of furthering their injuries, BUT... If they're gone maybe that will force Donlon to run. We'd have an eight man rotation with two post players. I'm not sure he'd have a choice but to run. Who knows? Maybe he'll even like it! *note: I am insane

I would like to Jerran in for uptempo offense. Uptempo with Young and Davis on the court would be interesting to watch. But with BD's history we will see slow down to decrease the opponents opportunities. This is a I don't believe in my players offense.

If Griffin, Young, Pacher, and Yoho are out we might as well sit Vest also and take the 5 most productive players off the floor and go up tempo to beat Valpo. Do we have more injuries than a typical team? Is Cole injured ? I say start Hopkins Reggie Dixon Howell and Davis - speed athleticism .......time to play the Lotto cause it's never gonna happen

So let me recap...arguably one of the biggest road games of the conference season, and we're without our best ball handler/distributor, AND the best 3 pointer shooter on the team. In a game where we are going to have extreme difficulty scoring in the paint, this is exactly NOT what you are supposed to do. I can't remember the last time the core of our team went an entire season without ongoing nagging injuries. This is really getting old.
