The only reason he might move down there is his daughter but it is a step backwards in his career. I don't see him going to a conference like that, he wants to move up not down. Everyone does have a price though, no matter what you put out there in the media. I don't know if he getting rich here but I think he does get a pretty good salary here. Got to admit the area has got to be better than the Dayton area with all the winter weather we had this year. Going to UNCW would not be considered a step backwards. They are in the CAA which most years finished right around the HL. In the last 5 years, they finished ahead of the HL twice. UNCW has twice as many NCAA tournament appearances as WSU and they have an NCAA tournament victory under their belt. According to their message board they could also afford to pay him more than what we pay him now. Being closer to his daughter and coaching at his alma mater might matter more to him than you think. UNCW can double what Donlon makes here. I believe Donlon makes 220K here. UNCW paid their last coach a base salary of $240,000. He made $100,000 for doing his weekly TV and radio shows and $100,000 for marketing and fundraising work. www.wwaytv3.com/2014/03/12/uncw-owes-peterson-much-880000

It was not that long ago that Stan heath was a rising star. I think I have the right guy. Did great at Kent state then moved on to some bcs team. Now fired by usf.

I don't think BD will go anywhere, unless BG has told him they are not ready to give contract extension and he is concerned. Although, if it were me and could move closer to children it would be very tempting. Either way we will come out just fine.

I wonder if Danny Manning will be a candidate at Auburn? He has done a good job turning the Tulsa program around.

I wonder what else may have been behind BD's decision to play in the CIT. Perhaps a further auditioning for himself as more jobs become open? I'm sure that was a definite factor. I don't know enough about his family situation besides what has been posted here on the board, and how that would impact his decision to leave for NC. However, the CAA, as it stands now, is trending down compared to the HL. Losing George Mason, ODU, and VCU have hurt their conference RPI more than us losing Butler. I understand that UNCW had some NCAA success, but that was a while ago, and even with the financials this is a lateral move for BD.
Now, Brownell essentially did something similar, and eventually made his way to the ACC. The difference was he had immediate, largely sustained success and wins per season at WSU. BD would have be able to do the same at UNCW.

Sounds like a rebuilding year at UNCW and that will take years to do that there at least.
