So who would Raider fans rather face....Oakland or YSU?
I say Oakland. The reason is we have multiple guys that can guard Bader (Dixon, Vest, and Young have all been effective), and so much of Oakland's offense revolves around Bader--YSU is a little more balanced in that Perry will look to get other guys involved if he's having a hard time. YSU also has two other things that I don't like about playing them. The first is that we have always had a hard time stopping Perry...if he's not hurting us from the field, he gets to the line. Second, they have Ryan Weber (6-6), and he presents a real matchup problem for us due to his length and ability to score from anywhere.
The fact that we barely scratched out a win against Oakland last time, coupled with all the cheap shots they've laid on our guys, will really amp the guys up to play.

I agree with Oakland. Besides sweeping the series, we were able to contain Bader relatively successfully. We also seem to have a better way of playing our style of game against them, where playing with a higher tempo physical Slocum team isn't really what I like to see. With the increase in quality of officials (hopefully) in tournament games, I would imagine that the cheap shot issue with Oakland wouldn't stand up too well in Green Bay, but I guess you never know. I also think that we have clearly staked our name as a contender year in and year out, and I'm not sure a team like Oakland is really poised and experienced to make a deep run into the tournament. Having said that, we had YSU last year in our first game, and handled that relatively well. I also think that we are kind of a dark horse in this league, and I don't think anybody, Green Bay included, wants to have to face us. Should be an interesting tournament. Our late season tournament action last year, plus the extra rest we are getting should give us the advantage we need to knock off either one of these teams.

The Wisconsin teams push the limits of a weekend road trip when there is a 3 year old involved. I have everywhere else but there, and unless I get bored and steal a Cessna, or find myself up in cheeseville after going the wrong way on i90...I probably won't ever make it to GB/Milwaukee. I can check off every other arena (except to O.co or whatever they call it)...should get there in the next year or two.

What is Griffin's status for the tournament?

I agree raider. I had hoped to get to Oakland this year, but didn't. I definitely will go some year if we play them on a Saturday or on a Sunday afternoon.
Interesting that Vest made the All HL defensive team and not Griffen.
I agree that we'll have a better chance against Oakland, but I don't expect it to be easy. There are no guarantees once the tournament begins, even for GB and CSU.
GO RAIDERS!

Griffin's had THREE concussions in the span of a few weeks. If the people in charge have his best interests in mind, he'll be out for the season.
