Since we were waiting so late to release the schedule I was hoping to see a real October Surprise pulled by Wright State with the announcement of a home-and-home with a high mid-major or mid/low-tier BCS program.
Unfortunately all we got was another late September Gomer Pyle style, "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise here's another D II team on our schedule."

Unfortunately all we got was another late September Gomer Pyle style, "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise here's another D II team on our schedule." So far, this is the ONLY D2 team on the schedule.

To be fair mrose, we have upgraded from our usual div iii opponents. I truly believe this coaching staff is determined never to go thru another season like the season three years ago. They are "dumbing down" the schedule to assure that. I think they believe that as long as they win 20 games, regardless of the level of competition, most of the fan base and the admin will be satisfied. Look for another clunker to be announced this week.

Well, 6th man, you win the "Parse the debate simply by Semantics" Award. Keith comes in a close second. He's correct and made a late charge at the finish line, via semantics, and correctly stated we've upgraded our schedule from Div. III schools to Div. II schools (from a technical point we have to make the assumption a D II school is an upgrade from a D III school, though there are instances where that isn't true).
So, excuse me. I should have written, "another non Div. 1 team to the schedule." And, I could have added, "at the relative last minute, again." That's par for the course under Donlon, is it not?

Yes, I was just hoping the schedule would be out before the season started.

Based on an interview with BD in the DDN, it seems like we have one more big opponent to announce. He said something like we'll have George Mason, a BCS school, and a school that "wins 30 games a year". So it seems OSU is one of those last two....any idea from anybody on who the BCS School/30+wins a year team will be? Dare we guess perhaps a game against UK? Well....Ohio Dominican is probably not what BD meant by a team that wins 30 a year...unless he meant Findlay in the exhibition....we can't even bring in an additional one or two home games against one of the more than 350 DI schools. Mind-boggling....

Any chance of getting an at large bid with this schedule? If not than all that matters is the HL games and the HL tourney. How will playing weak competition prepare this team for league play? Oh well, still better to be a so-so Division I team than a great Division II team because there is still hope for a new direction in the future.

Maybe we should invite Central State, Wilberforce, and Cedarville to a round robin tournament. If we win 3 games we can crown ourselves the Champions of Greene County. I'm sure that would make the front page of the Xenia Gazette.

Well for the Ohio Dominion game I will be in Atlanta, Georgia. My grand daughter plays on a 14U softball team and they are playing in a 16U tournament.

Ok, this will probably piss a few people off, but if you actually believe that these non div i games are scheduled because we "cannot get anyone to play us" you are deluding yourself. After 3-4 years of it you should realize this a deliberate strategy to pad win totals. And as long as remaining season ticket holders tolerate it, it will continue.

First, I have to agree with KofX that this schedule is just the run of the mill type of schedule that is in keeping with the Commish, although it also fits our need given that we have about 7 new faces on the team this year. I don't like it, in fact I hate it, but I can accept it given all the new blood we've added this off-season. On the other positive side is the fact that we have a decent set of players returning and two new players with JC experience coming in as juniors. Given that, I think the case could be made that we could have developed a stronger schedule.
For now I'll just be content to watch Buckeye football. Wake me when it is November.

Gag me with a spoon - less home games and still the clinkers. I would have been happy with h-h's with Northern Ky and IPUFW and that ilk. This is either job preservation or negligence. Look back at some of our old schedules and it will make you sick.

Anyone notice that the majority of people bitching about the home schedule are people that don't even attend home games.
