We need to make these FTs Make the first one, put the second one off the back iron for a long rebound, kick it around to Yoho on the perimeter. 3 ball. Game tied. Now just do exactly that and we'll be fine.

Why the hell isn't Benzinger in the game now?

Too bad we didn't play with this much energy sooner. It's obvious that this is the tempo the game needed to be played at.
Like we discussed on page one, we've got nothing to gain in this game. We lost to an A-10 bottom feeder. And we have to return this game next season. Disappointing loss..but I'm not surprised. GMU way bigger and way more athletic, but they play in a bigger and more athletic conference.
Nothing like a 2 game skid going into conference play.

Why the hell did Donlon call timeout? We are down 8 with 6 seconds left. We aren't coming back.

If Karena could make any or all of his bunny shots we win. This guy is terrible and we have no option but to play the amadon. So frustrating.

Frustrating loss. Also, a real RPI killer too. This is the time of year when RPI's get roughly settled, and this team was a top 80 team before this. It'll drop a good 20-30 spots with this one. Throw in the POS way the HL has played the last week, and WSU will drop into the 130-150 even with a winning record in the HL. Not like I think this team would challenge for an at-large, but I'm sick (like everybody else) of the sub-150 RPI in the Donlon era.
The fact Donlon and co. didn't get run out of the gym is a little consolation given how it looked at 57-43. I do also take some solice in that we shot unusually poor from 3 across the board---I doubt we'll shoot that poor again at home during the season. That said, I have to start wondering when Reggie will fade to a 15 minute a game guy----he really did little tonight . But more than that we really need to have Benzinger and Mitchell (at least one of those) out there at all times. Sounds odd since they are both freshman and guards, but they're both hustle players, they get 50/50 balls, they play D, and bring something offensively (Benzinger the 3, and Mitchell the drive) that we need on the court for when the other main guys are struggling.
I'm not giving up on Karena, because I think he's still learning and he's got good skills, but what just worries me is how childish their bigs made him look. It wasn't even remotely competitive. We need Roderick Davis to grow up and in a hurry, because I think he can do to other teams what happened to WSU tonight.
Anything can happen in college basketball (NJIT over MU anyone), but it looks like a .500 OOC against D-I. Not bad considering the injuries/suspensions/Tavares getting kicked off, but not great considering that we should have won another game at that MTE and tonight.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Fellow Raider Fans.

Karena definitely has to play better against bigs like we played today. Not very many teams in our conference are as physical in the middle like Mason. I think he will be fine against the 6-8 6-9 forwards in our league.
At this point. I will say my starting five would be:
Karena Stephen Davis Benzinger Thomason Yoho
6th man Mitchell 7th man Hopkins

Real lack of leadership tonight on the floor. We only really put it together when we realized how big of a hole we were in. If we would have played the entire game like we played the final 6 to 8 minutes, we'd be winning a lot more games. It was as if someone flipped a switch...This team isn't used to being down double digits at home, it just doesn't happen. Made the right adjustment, just too little too late. I'm frustrated with the inconsistent play, and our senior leaders not leading this team.

If Karena could make any or all of his bunny shots we win. This guy is terrible and we have no option but to play the amadon. So frustrating. Karena missed a few shots inside. Most were contested hook shots against a 6-11 shot blocker. The last one obviously wasn't but he still didn't cost us this game. We could have won it if we made our FTs. We missed 6. We could have had won if we didn't go 3-18 from 3 point land. That is basically 15 wasted possessions. We could have won if we didn't give up 10 offensive rebounds to them which lead to 14-16 points second chance buckets. We could have won if our 2 senior guards didn't score a combined 7 points, whereas Karena had 6 points by himself. Karena contributed to this loss, but this isn't all on him.
