So with the firing of McCallum, four coaches have spent longer than one year in the Horizon League. Three of those (Kampe, Waters, and Slocumb) will retire from their current institutions. The other is Bryce Drew.
Everyone else will be new.

Maybe the league is pushing for new standards to bring the RPI back up. Maybe YSU is going to get out of the Horizon.

Waters, Kampe, and Slocumb are now the only three coaches in the league with more than a year at their school.

Billy would need to clean up his language at practice and during games.

Milwaukee has hired LaVell Jordan. He was an assistant at Michigan. He played at Butler. 2 Horizon openings remain. Valpo and Detroit. Baccari Alexander is considering by many the front runner for the Detroit spot as he is a former player there.

That's a good hire for Milwaukee IMO. Good for them and the Horizon League.

Valparaiso will promote assistant coach Matt Lottich to replace Bryce Drew. He has been at Valpo for 3 years. Stanford alum.

Seems like the rest of the league is playing it cheap, hiring first time head coaches to fill vacancies. All after we made a huge coaching splash. Very interesting.

I'll take our Hire. We invested in Pavallion, we want to build top team in league.
It was us last time hiring a first time new coach heir apparent.

I look for us to start being the leader of the Horizon, I'm hoping it is a short process. We all like instant gratification so we will see. If the pieces of the puzzle we have here now work with his game plan it should not take long to have an exciting brand of basketball on the court again.

hhgreen, You keep saying we will have an exciting brand of basketball. What makes you think that? Nagy admitted he doesn't do run and gun. I guess I'm trying to figure out what you consider exciting.

Nagy does not run and gun, but he runs an offense that emphasizes trying to score. Our last coach was too interested in running down the clock before scoring for most fans liking. Nagy also lets his players try to get offensive rebounds. It has been 10 years since we have seen a Raider allowed to do that. That sounds pretty exciting to me.
