I appreciate Mark's passion but not his decision making. All teams use software to track the +/- scoring while each player is on the court. In our case we had two players who were in the minus category for their floor minutes. Alstork was one of them. Having said that, he could be a game changer late in a game when he gets under control and his free throw shooting can win close games if you can get the ball to him. Frankly, I'm ambivalent about him returning. I guess I want him to do what best benefits him personally.

Mark is getting his release and is graduating this summer. I think he is making a big mistake but I wish him all the best.

Well that certainly changes the available playing time for the backcourt players

Lose Steve, lose Mark, feels like next year is going to be even more of an uphill battle than this year.

That is 1085 of last seasons 2465 points walking out the door.

That is 1085 of last seasons 2465 points walking out the door. And I don't see a recruit or bench player on the rise who can fill that void at all, unless I'm missing something.

Well seems he quickly was brought back to reality from his "My only option is the NBA" idea he had a few days ago.

This is unbelievable. Someone I trust very much told me Mark was definitely coming back. I'll know never to trust him on these matters again.
What a joke. We're going to be awful next year. Can't say I'll be rooting for Alstork wherever he lands after he bailed on the program like this. Weak move on his part. I hope his new coach benches him for being selfish (which is the most-consistent part of his game: selfishness/bad shots) ... then Mark will wish he never left WSU.
He was made to play in Nagy's system. He's going to be a college graduate, but he's not bright enough to understand this? OK.

Well seems he quickly was brought back to reality from his "My only option is the NBA" idea he had a few days ago. He has someone around him giving him atrocious advice (or Alstork is giving himself bad advice). First the "I'm going to try the NBA" thing. Now the "I'm going to transfer to another college team" stuff. He needs to find new advisors before it is too late for him.

Im not going to insult Mark, and I'll root for him wherever he is, but I don't think he is realistic/impulsive in his decision making. We'll see what happens. He could still decide to come back. Like Grant did last year, but I doubt it.

He's turning his back on our program and you guys are cool with it? OK.
It's not like we're talking about a first-round pick leaving early. If that was the case, I would be rooting like crazy for him. But he's just leaving WSU because he doesn't want to be here. No way I'll be rooting for someone who quits on the program like that. He'll likely learn in 2017-18 that the "grass isn't greener on the other side." He will wish he stayed at WSU.
Can't say this enough -- he's perfect for Nagy's system. Amazing he can't see that.

If you watched Nagy's system at SDSU you would know that Mark actually isn't perfect for Nagy's system. Nagy wants his PG to run his system and good ball movement is perimont to success. He sure in the hell doesn't want his SF trying to run the offense or his SF trying to go 1 on 3 all the time trying to score. Mark is a ball hog and made bad decisions with the ball more often than he made good decisions. He butted heads with Nagy regularly about his role on the team.

BigD, do you think it is a positive thing for the team that Mark is going to leave, or is this a negative? I know you've seemed to expect this but I haven't really heard your overall opinion about it

Yes, can't say I watched too many SDSU games. But this season, Alstork sure as heck seemed like a good fit in Nagy's system. Good luck to Mark trying to score 19 ppg in another system. It will never happen.
