A tough first round game for sure. NKU is my dark horse to win the whole darn thing. However, we had second half leads in both games against the Norse and just ran out of wind after halftime.
NKU just got done with a dogfight with Valpo while our A-team got a nice portion of the second half off. Maybe that plays to our advantage. Plus, Nagy has more experience than any other coach in the league in conference tournaments and post-season play, which has to be an advantage.
They say it's hard to beat a team three times, so let's see what happens.
Oakland has won 9 staright, and will have the statistically easiest road to the NCAA tournament. Add the home court advantage into the mix, Oakland is my choice to win the league, but as I stated in another thread, any team could get hot and roll thru the tournament besides Milwaukee and CSU. The league beat each other up, and without Peters, there's no clear favorite.

I'm picking NKU. If we get past them, I'm giving us the favorite to win.

i would have a hard time picking us over valpo if we got to them. but i do think we will be a tough out for anyone. I really hope valpo does not win this thing and go to the ncaa. that would just make them look more attractive for say the mvc if wsu leaves them.

Not trolling, just asking, Oakland was 4-0, lost it's center and point guard to injury, went 1-4 and then when center got back 100% healthy has gone 9-0 and point guard is back. Beat Valpo twice by double digits WIth Peters playing yet I sense no respect for the number 1 seed. Why is that. Remember this team lost what would have been the 2 time player of the year inKay Felder if he had not gone early to the draft. Is this disrespect. In Oakland's four years in the league their league record is 45--23. Finished 5th-3rd-2nd and now first. What will it take to gain your respect? Again, just asking

Again, just asking Certainly have respect for this year's team, but the lack of overall respect is likely due to the fact that Oakland has lost 3 consecutive Horizon League tournament games, and has only won 1 tournament game (over Youngstown) since arriving to the conference. Geographically speaking many Wright State fans are quite aware that regular season success does not garner much in terms of overall respect, just look at the Cincinnati Bengals over the past 5+ seasons.

I like our chances if we get by NKU. We should be rested up good before that game. I would say that every player will be studying all the film of NKU players til they know each players moves by heart.

Again, just asking I certainly respect Oakland's team, and much more their coach. But you've gotta respect our coach too who has done a hell of a lot with a little and has alot of postseason tournament experience. Oakland has had some really shocking wins by large numbers against good teams, but they've also been dismantled a few times. We beat you by over 20 after you guys thrashed us. Both teams can get hot and get ice cold. But in a tourney, I'd take WSU over any team due to how we've played in the tourney recently. Just my humble opinion. But certainly I respect Oakland's team! And good luck!

Again, just asking I respect Oakland, but ESPN doesn't...just looking at the bracketology and they have Oakland as a 15 seed playing against Kentucky in the NCAA Tourney. How does LeCrone keep his job? The Horizon League is becoming a joke. Jerry Palm at CBS has Oakland as a #15 seed too. Their RPI is north of 100. Lunardi (ESPN) and Palm (CBS) plug in the conference leader as the conference representative when they do their brackets. If Oakland, UWGB, NKU, or Wright State win the HL tourney they will probably be given a #15 seed...and that's what all those teams deserve. LeCrone didn't coach or play for any of those programs. If Valpo wins they might get a #13 or #14 seed. I'm not a LeCrone fan, but you can't blame him for the on-court performance/results of Oakland or others in the HL this season.

The last two additions to the league have both been good: Oakland and Northern Kentucky.
Losing Butler was a huge blow, but was inevitable.
IMO, HL did as good of a job as possible by adding Oakland and NKU (to basically replace Butler and Loyola).
If programs like Detroit and Cleveland State weren't a complete joke, the HL would be fine. There is no reason for Detroit and Cleveland State to be as bad as they are. Detroit has pretty much been trash since 1999 (when they won a game in the NCAA tourney).
UIC is perennial underachievers too. We need our programs in major cities like Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago to carry their weight.

It seems like Alec Peters is like maybe/maybe not for the tourney. This would only matter for us in the championship of course if we (or they) got that far.
