Pure. Nostalgia.
How'd you get involved with WSU sports? When? What's your greatest memory as a fan?

My dad is an alum and has been taking me to games since I was a toddler.
Greatest memory was probably in 1995 when Delme Herriman hit "The Shot" to beat #25 ranked Xavier in the MCC tournament. When I got home from the game, I taped ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the night segment and watched that shot over and over again.

Both parents have long been employed at the school. I've been attending games with them for as long as I can remember. My five siblings and I all attended Wright State. Growing up I followed and cheered on the Raiders while my peers donned the likes of UNC, Duke, UCLA, whatever big program appealed to them. While I may not always love it, WSU basketball is in my blood. I'm a regional sports fan anyway, so it's only right.

Best video of Butler win. Hope the link works. That gentleman in the hat at 1:09 is quite the looker! Probably a genius, too. No. DEFINITELY a genius!

Right now one of my favorite moments will be the hiring of Coach Nagy. He has created a resurgence of the program. He shows confidence in his players and they respond with 110% effort at crunch time. I guess my favorite Raider memory will be made in the near future. GO RAIDERS

I only started getting into it my freshman year, Donlon's last season. So I suppose my favorite moment of basketball so far was Cole's step back 3 to take us to OT in Oakland last week. My favorite basketball experience was Thursday night at NKU, that was a great game to be at in person. I enjoy continuing to learn all of the history and hear the stories of other posters on this board and can't help but think that the years that I have been a student are going to be the start of an era that will hold the biggest wins and stories for this program's history! Go Raiders!

Went to WSU straight out of high school in 99' for 4 quarters. Loved going to the games, they were affordable, convenient, and had a great atmosphere. Spent a good 10 years going to games and inviting friends. Hated the university for its academics, but their basketball program will always love. Been to a few games here on the East coast when they come this way to travel.

Started at WSU right out of high school in 2005. I was a "super fan" in high school...(face paint, costumes, wigs, etc.) so it really carried over to WSU. I don't think I missed a single home game in the 3 years I went to WSU (long story). I was at the court rushing in 07, and all of the other great games. I (along with gerb) really sparked what Raider Rowdies are today. We recruited students to come to games, handed out flyers, and organized carpools and banter in the stands.
I continued going to games after leaving WSU in 08 and 09 thanks to my wife who was still a student. I took my father in law, and we normally sat on the wings next to the students. The year she graduated, we received free season tickets from the university. I left the face paint at home, but continued to be a vocal leader from the stands.
After that season, we relocated out of state, so now I have to watch from ESPN. Occasionally, we get back to the Dayton area and get a chance to see our friends and family. The UIC game earlier this season was the first game I've been to in several years. I will love the Raiders until the day I die.

I was a freshman in 1982-83, just in time to follow the National Championship team. Graduated in '86, when they lost to Cheyney in the regional championship game in one of the most exciting games that I've ever witnessed. I've been a season ticket holder ever since the Nutter Center opened, excluding the 1993-94 season.

One of my best memories was a game I missed. I was out of town for the Michigan State game. I gave my four tickets to my brother in law and he took 3 friends. I got a call right after the game, with all the noise in the background, informing me of the Raider win. MSU went on to win the National Championship.

I began following the Raiders when I began attending the university in 2007-2008 and have been on board ever since. I have been living in China for the past 4 years now so the 12-13 hour time difference makes it tough to follow the games at times but it is totally worth it. I wish we still had the Horizon League Network to stream the games, that was actually pretty awesome. Now it seems almost impossible for me to find streams or full videos of the games, so I rely on this board for details. Some days it feels like waking up on Christmas morning when I check my phone to see the results and find a Raiders W! Where is 'ThatBaldRaiderFan' ? I'm sure he'd had some good stories to share.

My father was a long-time WSU professor. Within my family, there were five WSU degrees. I grew up going to games in the 80s at the old PE building with my father and older brothers. My earliest WSU memory was a game winning three by Marcus Mumphrey. I've been fortunate to be at some great games like the game against MSU, a few wins against Butler when they were ranked, and I vividly remember watching on TV the first win against UD. Still remember getting excited watching a and 1 by Dan Skeoch put us up against UK in the 2nd half (only to see Mashburn be Mashburn).
More recently, I was blessed to have season tickets with my dad for several years, starting in the Brownell era and continuing up until Donlon's fifth year. My dad was stricken with cancer in 2016 and died very quickly, and unfortunately my mom is now terminally ill. The last two years I've had to rely mostly on ESPN3 or 106.5. Such is life....
WSU games really hold a unique place for me mostly because of the guy I most associated with those games. It sucks now, because my brothers moved away and don't really follow the games, and none of my friends are real hardcore WSU people, so I really don't have anyone to talk WSU with on a semi-regular basis. But one of the best things about season tickets was getting to know a few folks that post here regularly (they know who they are). And I think next year I will be taking one of my sons to all the home games, God willing.
I'm very hopeful that this program now has the right mix of talent and a coach that wants to stay and build this WSU into another WSU (aka Wichita State). We may be witnessing something special here or (like the last decade) something almost special. Time will tell.

Many good games, The wins over Detroit (Rashad Phillips), Butler, Michigan State, and Big Intimidating Vitaly! But my favorite memory: Back in the day I was at the Living Room (Strip Club) late one night, when the announcer says "And we welcome the Wright State Raiders". I look up an there's most of the team. Well I saunter up and tell them I'm a season ticket holder. We are all laughing and then one of the players says do you know Vitaly? I said ya, where's he at? They said right behind you. I turn around and there's Vitaly with the biggest grin you've ever seen. This was the night before a tournament at WSU. (Air Trans I believe). When I left, the players all said Don't tell Ralph!! Well the next night I'm in my seats, front row behind the visitors basket. As WSU is warming up and shooting free throws they all see me and we all starting laughing again. Not recommending any current teams pull this stunt these days.

I started attending games in 2006. I remember my first game that year being the BGSU game. Knowing that we got free tickets to games meant I was going to be at all of them. My buddies and I went to every game after that and enjoyed ourselves. That year was magical and left me with unrealistic expectations (we should go dancing ever year). I continued going to games till I graduated and then got season tickets for a few years after. Unfortunately/Fortunately I married someone who does not enjoy basketball. Haven't been too many games in the past few years, but watch a lot on ESPN3 and follow along on the message board almost every day. I've enjoyed reading everyone's post and continue to enjoy Raider Roundball.
