Not sure what happened. Definitely seems disappointing as he was probably our most athletic player and he has shot the 3 well this season.

A few years ago there was a player who was a problem in the locker room. Nagy said that it would never happen again. I wish Potter the best wherever he winds up but he needs a fresh start and we need less drama.

Good luck, but what a loss. Seems like we take one step forward two back with some of our progress.

Does our coaching staff have a problem keeping our younger players? After losing the third one (Malachi, Skyelar, and Everett) I’m starting to wonder

Players transfer, heck alstork and mays played on 3 teams. Camron justice of WKU is on his third stop. Players feel entitled and their aau coaches feed into them.

Damn. I was really looking forward to watching him the next two years.
This is the way of things now, though. I'll withhold my philosophy on it here, but that's the way it's evolved.
I wish him luck.

Potter seemed to be immature with holding back his feelings about things, he flew off the handle real quick on the court. Just guessing but I’m thinking he let too many people know what he’s thinking instead of talking to the coach. There is nothing that ticks off a coach more than scuttlebutt about playing time and dragging other players in it. Wish him good luck wherever he goes.

The highly touted recruiting class of 2018 is now down to 1 player. Davenport bailed before even stepping foot on campus, Smith left at the end of last season, and now Potter is gone. This is really disappointing.

If Potter wasn’t totally sold on laying here he should look at options. His options now are to find somewhere to play. We still have quality players to take his minutes on the court. Some players thrive with competition and work to get better others don’t. I wish him luck where he goes.

Finals finishing up now so the timing makes sense if he wants to play at mid season next year. Disappointing.

Honestly, it is for the best. You are either all in or you are a distraction on this team. Potter has been a distraction most of the year. He wasn’t happy he wasn’t named a starter this year. He has gone rogue on offense more times than I can count this year and his defensive effort has been the biggest reasons his playing time has been what it has been. Our coaching staff is old school. They are intense and hard on the guys at practice to prepare them. Some guys thrive on that kind of coaching. Others don’t. I think he just expected to step into a starting spot this year due to how he finished last year. He has been outworked and outplayed by Hall and our true freshmen who earned their playing time this summer and fall. Instead of increasing his effort at practice he has been a cancer in the locker room. It sucks that we are losing depth off our bench but when all is said and done I think this one is going to be an addition by subtraction.

Losing Potter hurts but it does open the door for other players. When Lou and Billy are full go, Basile is still going to be getting major minutes. We all might get to see the twin towers on the court together. Calvin can expect his playing time to increase. And all the James Manns fans can get excited knowing he is going to get his shot to stay in the rotation now. I don’t like the revolving door that NCAA sports has become but we have benefited from it too. LaTulip, Love, Gentry, Wampler, Ash, Dozic, and Finke are all players that didn’t originally sign with Wright State. I don’t like that we lost a guy that can help us win games mid season but I see it as an opportunity for current players to step up this year and our coaching staff to find more talent for next year.

It reads as if there is some insider info here that explains - or helps explain - the transfer. However, I don't like when any of our recruits transfer...especially a recruit of our current Coach.
The Winchester transfer made sense to me because he thought he was a (3) and we saw him as a (4). The M Smith transfer surprised me until I saw the athleticism of Holden and Calvin. This Potter transfer feels more like the J Mitchell episode and I'm just as disappointed at one as I am the other.
I was hoping that Potter would be the next Wampler/Duggins type who could shoot the 333 and make his athleticism known on both ends of the floor. I didn't notice any discontent/rogue-ness in his play but I'm not at practice and I don't "know" the offense. To my eye, his play was as-good-as or better than Hall and different but not all-that-less than Holden - although Holden has a very high ceiling...crazy high to my mind.
As already stated in here, he should move on if he's that unhappy or being that big of a distraction. I wish him well. This is one transfer that I will be interested to follow. Mitchell's college career ended, Winchester and Smith went to lesser conferences - if that's even possible. It'll be interesting to see where he lands and how he does.

The guy's gone through some very serious stuff the last few years. His struggles with ADD have garnered at least one article and plenty of discussion elsewhere last year. He lost the most important, grounding person in his life, which threw him further into a difficult emotional and focal mindset. I don't see this as a Julius Mays situation at all. I see a kid who's been through some serious crap, didn't match up in the environment he was in, and needs to find an environment that's a little more conducive to his situation. Nagy and WSU are a fantastic spot for a lot of people, but that doesn't mean it is for Potter. I was really, really looking forward to him having some bust out games and rim rockers, but at some point before the season, the possibility of this happening became apparent.
