Exactly how does this initiative work? I really don't get it. I understand how an established player who has been with a program several years could parlay his/her name recognition into getting advertising deals from local merchants/companies to promote that business. That's great. I have no problem with it. But now, from what I understand, is that players from HS or those that are entering the transfer portal are demanding up front payments from these Initiatives before they commit to play for that program. This is nothing more than "pay for play" free agency in College Athletics. So if that's the reality, then whats to prevent our Billionaire Alum to open up his check book and just allow our new Coach & staff to go out and get the best players money can buy? WSU could suddenly tranform itself from a lowly mid-major into bigtime player overnight.

The NCAA opened up that Pandora’s box without a plan to regulate it. Under your last scenario, the only thing keeping that from happening is the fact that we don’t have any billionaire donors filling our NIL coffers.

One of our Alums is a former Baseball player and the son of a deceased Billionaire. I have no idea if he has access to any of those funds with the descretion to use them to be a rainmaker for our Athletic Department. I'm just suggesting that if he did, and chose to do so, our Basketball Program could literally be trasformed overnight.

Can Soin start donating the majority of his money to basketball and stop donating towards hospitals and education?

The trajectory of the baseball program, to me, would suggest enough donors there exist to sustain the current program success but I am just guessing that. There are several WSU alums projected to push toward MLB so hopefully that happens.

Actually 3G, I think baseball is the program we should begin pouring nil money into. It is far and away the most advanced program we have in terms of national recognition. If we start spending some money to bring in some pitching we could take a serious leap ( I do not know much about volleyball and where it is nationally and I think basketball has reached low major status and is going to be very difficult to do anything with) . Regardless who the coach is. If baseball began to compete on a national level maybe we would have to expand the bleachers at nischwitz.

Not sure how this works but I would love to help NIL anyway I can! I feel like there is so much untapped potential with local businesses like if the Wondering Griffin did a light beer that they sold there and at games that a percentage went to their NIL fund. I always feel like Wright State is always behind on merchandise like jerseys if they did NIL jerseys I think those would be a big hit! Just don't know how to make all that happen! HAHA!

NIL is minimally regulated but alcohol is one of the companies athletes are not allowed to accept money from.

I know a certain school did this with Warped Wings which is why I thought it would be a super easy idea...maybe we see some incoming infractions hopefully lol! Sounds like we will be seeing more NIL though in the upcoming years! Merch I think could be a good market! I know I would like jerseys of players might as well have them attached to kids NIL.
