Cotton Receives Medical Hardship Waiver October 16, 2006 It was announced today that University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball player Brandon Cotton has been granted an additional year of eligibility as a result of a medical hardship waiver he has been granted for the 2003-04 academic year. Cotton, who saw action in just three games at Michigan State due to an injury as a freshman in 2003-04 will be listed as a junior this season and has two seasons of eligibility remaining. "We would like to thank everyone involved for their assistance in getting the paper work processed," said Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance Steve Corder. "We worked closely with both the Horizon League and Big Ten conference offices to obtain this hardship for Brandon. We truly feel that the intent of the NCAA legislation came into play here and ultimately the student-athlete is the one who benefits the most from this." Cotton, a pre-season All-League selection, and the rest of the Titans open the 2006-07 season with an exhibition at Calihan Hall against in-state rival Grand Valley State on Nov. 7 at 7:05 p.m. detroittitans.com/mbasketball.jsp?id=1161027479094

I am not sure if this is good or bad news from a raider fan's perspective. Granted, Cotton is talented but at times I think he can shoot his team right out of games. If he is on then he can carry a team. He seems to be a streaky player.
I am sure the Titan fans are happy about this decision.
