A month from now, Wright State's Hall of Fame adds three more, including basketball's Keion Brooks, baseball's Brian Bailey and former swimming coach Matt Liddy.
Brooks played from 1995-99 and is second all-time on the WSU scoring list with 1,766 points. In those days, the Raiders played in the MCC. He was on the All-Newcomer Team in 1996, first team All-League in '97 and '99 and second team in '98.
Bailey played from 1985-88 and was on the team that was National Division II runner-up- in 1987. He was a third-team All-American that year and an All-District team member. He is the school record-holder with 214 runs and is second in hits with 263.
Liddy is the icon of the group, coaching swimming and diving from 1989-2005. During that time, he received 11 conference Coach of the Year honors and won 16 team championships. He sent swimmers to the NCAA Division I championships in four seasons and never finished lower than third in his league with the men's team or lower than second with the women.
He closed his career to move into administration on the men's side with three straight conference titles and finished second with the women in 2005 after winning the previous three seasons.
Baseball honors
Pitcher Joe Smith and catcher Aaron Garcia — both of whom signed professional contracts after the season — will be among the WSU baseball players honored at Saturday's men's basketball game. Last spring's Raiders team won the Horizon League tournament and was only the second WSU squad to appear in the NCAA Division I tournament.
A championship ring will be presented to each of the players — 31 of the 34 members of last season's team are expected to be on hand.
Military Day
Saturday is also Military Day for WSU basketball. Those with military ID or items that can be sent to troops overseas (from beef jerky to phone cards) will be admitted for $1 to the women's game vs. UIC at 1 p.m. and $4 to the men's game vs. Green Bay at 7 p.m.
