I've been think about this ever since we added John David Gardner to our roster. What should we do with our last scholarship? We can still use it this year on a prep player or JUCO player. We can save it for next year since we only have 2 seniors (Scottie and Jordan). We can save it for a potential transfer from a bigger conference or we can give it to Mark Anderson. Anderson is supposed to be enrolled at WSU now as a non-qualifier, but will be eligible next season as a sophomore if he makes the grades. He is a 6-8, forward from Dayton Dunbar. He averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds last year as a senior. Here is a look at our roster next year by class:
Seniors: Scottie Wilson 6-6, F Jordan Pleiman 6-8, F/C
Juniors: Will Graham 6-2, G Gavin Horne 6-8, F
Sophomores: Eric Stevenson 5-11, G Vaughn Duggins 6-3, G Todd Brown 6-5, G/F John David Gardner 6-4, G Ronnie Thomas 6-9, F/C
Freshman: Troy Tabler 6-4, G Cooper Land 6-8, F Kyle Pressley 6-9, F/C

Based on the fact that we brought Perry in for an official vist, I expect we will end up using our last scholarship on someone. I hope we add a JUCO or another transfer that can be an impact player. A JUCO would also help balance out our classes a little bit.

I think we will end up saving that last scholarship for next season. Our coaches seem willing to give it to an impact player, like I think Perry would have been, but I don't think they are going to give it to just anyone. I think they have moved onto 2008 recruitng for the most part and have stayed in touch with some 2007 recuits as a "just in case" scenerio. I could be wrong, but that is how I see it.

I agree with wsu97. I see us banking that schollie unless an impact prospect chooses the Raiders. I have a lot of confidence in the recruiting of this coaching staff so I'm sure the scholarship will be put to good use.

I don't like the idea of saving scholarships for the future. We have gone so many years without being able to fill a full roster, I would rather just see our coaches go after the best available athlete. Looking at the 2007 recruiting thread, the player that sticks out to me is Imad Qahwash. He is at Harmony Prep this year which is a really good prep school and he put up some great stats as a high school senior (27 points, 9 assists, and 4 steals). I'm not a fan of either Will Graham or Eric Stevenson being our starting point guard next year and I am worried about JDG's health after 2 foot surgeries in the last 2 years. I think we need another point guard and Qahwash sounds like a good option.

It doesn't hurt that Qahwash is a great shooter. FYI, there was an assistant coach from Wright State at the flying to the hoops tournament last week. Qahwash's Harmony Prep team played at that tournament.

Like others have already stated I'd bank the last ship unless an impact player falls into our laps.
A JUCO wouldn't be bad because we will be even younger next year with only 4 upper classman ( 2 jrs & 2 sr.) but he would have to be an impact JUCO.

I'd save it for next year's class unless a big time transfer becomes available this summer.

I agree 100% . I think we will hold onto the scholarship, but I trust our coaching staff to make the best decision.

Save it for a transfer. We have done pretty well over the years with transfers--Z Williams, C Doliboa, S Doliboa, J Diester. Let's hope Gardner and Thomas live up to our past success.

Add another JUCO. We need more experience next year.
