Karena has to stay in and get 20+ minutes in my mind. He got a lot of rest the last two games. I think he'll have the energy to pound.

Let 'em tire each other out. Exactly. I want the walk-ons to be the only ones left standing at the end.

I'd like to see Valpo in the finals just because of the at-large possibility (and if not, let's remember the auto NIT bid, which, I believe, still means a little more cash flow our way), but it doesn't really matter who wins between them and UWGB, as long as it goes to six or seven overtimes. Heh heh heh

Has anyone else noticed that one of prominent ads on the jumbotron at the Horizon League tournament is for the University of Toledo?

To play devil's advocate, they have spent significant time talking about Yoho being left off the all-HL teams.

What kind of cheap shoes is Nike giving us? Couldn't get my feed to work until now. What happened?

I watched a good chunk of the Detroit-YSU game last night. The Titans were without All-HL first teamer Paris Bass for the first half due to academic violations* The Titans had the game pretty much in hand going in to the second half, so McCallum kept him on the bench until late. He played 11 minutes and put up 7 points, 8 rebounds, a steal, and a block, albeit in junk time. The boy has fresh legs today. This is concerning to me.
*Can we all agree that half-game suspensions in any sport are BS? Not just in this situation. In all sports.

DONLON: "Hi Daniel. Thanks for meeting with me today. I have a proposal for you. You're a 6'9" small forward with amazing range. You've put up excellent numbers against international competition for your country's national team. We love your game and we'd love for you to spend the next four years as a Wright State Raider. Buuuuuut, if you get injured early on and I mismanage everything to the point our only hope of making the postseason is winning four days in a row against teams we've played twice, I'm going to hold you back. And when I say "hold you back" I mean I'll play a nonscholarship player who unsuccessfully tried to transfer out last year ahead of you. I'll talk publicly about how you're the best shooter on the team, but have you sub in only in blowouts and usually after the walk-ons get in. I'll play you so little that you won't even be on the opponents' scouting reports. Then, when we play those teams a third time, we'll give you major minutes to throw off the opponent. It'll be so fun!"
TRANSLATOR: "This man is from an American college. He thinks you are good at basketball."
DANIEL: "okay"
[cut to nine months later]
DONLON: "Hey Mortensen! You're in for Karena."
EVERYONE BUT DONLON: "Huh?"
DONLON: [wringing hands together] Muah ha ha ha ha!
