This video has a nice breakdown of potential replacements for UIC. The first 10 and a half minutes are about UIC joining the MVC. The rest breaks down the HL potential options. It's a pretty good analysis.

I cannot see Murray State wanting to join the HL unless we are their only option. The conference is just too big and has too many bottom feeders in it to be attractive to a good program. It's the reason we all want to leave it. For Wright State, I just don't see another conference that would want us that we would want to join.

Went to see who else we might know that found their way into a TBT roster. Biggie Minnis, Brandon Neel, and…oh my. thetournament.com/teams/house-of-paign-illinois-alumni/Considering Basile is Mike Daum 2.0, I think our guy will transition pretty well. Having an ex-teammate in LaTulip as a head coach can’t hurt either. Hope no one else watched the game today to see Lou play. House of Paign (#2 seed) got bounced by the 15 seed. Lou never saw the court.

I don't know if it is a forgone conclusion that Lou is moving on. If you asked me that a week ago I would have said yes, he is going to head to Europe next year. With the way this season ended I think he might come back. I don't think he had his mind made up yet before that game and I really don't think he wants to end his college career like that. He has a chance to come back and become WSU's all time leader in scoring to go with his all time rebounding record. He could be a 3 time HL MVP and the only Raider to play in 2 NCAA tournaments. I really think he is on the fence about it. I cannot imaging Wright State would not have done something to honor him at our last home game for a senior night if they knew he was moving on. Even now, if we knew he was leaving, our athletic department would be putting out some kind of social media posts congratulating him on his career here. I don't know how much of a chance we have of him coming back next year but I do think we have a chance.

I assume the NCAA is going to grant us this waiver for at least 1 year, hopefully 2 years like they did for Central Michigan. With the cluster all schools are in because of the coronavirus I cannot imagine the NCAA wants to negative PR they would get by not giving us the waiver. The bigger question in my mind is what will Grant decide to do in 2 years when he needs to add 3 sports back. I don't know what the cost of running softball, and men's and women's tennis is. WSU could easily just bring those 3 sports back but they could just as easily add 3 less expensive sports. Cheaper options might be men's and women's bowling. We already have successful non scholarship teams so the transition might be pretty easy. We have a men's golf team. We could easily add a women's team. We could bring back swimming and diving or wrestling. My guess is that we add the 3 most cost effective sports to regain the minimum standing needed to be D1.

This is true for those of us who follow the team closely, and participate in boards like this. This isnt the case for casual fans (which we need to boost attendance), the majority of students, and families with younger kids. WSU basketball is a priority for the majority of us on this board, but we need more than the diehard fans to show up if we want to create more diehard fans. Creating a more entertaining atmosphere for everyone can only benefit WSU. No one is saying that we should start boycotting games until things get better. I will still be at every home game. I just dont understand those who are against improving the game day atmosphere. I am hoping Friday will be packed, and loud! I've had multiple season tickets to WSU, Xavier, UC, OSU, and that school across town every year for the last 25 years. I primarily attend WSU games and use the other tickets for my business to give to my employees and vendors that I work with throughout the state. In all of that time I have only been asked 3 questions when I have offered tickets to anyone for any of those teams: what day is the game? what time is the game? and who are they playing? I have NEVER been asked what the half time or time out entertainment is like at any of those venues. If you guys really thinks any of that crap drives casual fans to games you are delusional. Someone already stated it above but you are either interested in seeing a team play a game or you are not. No one is making a decision to attend/not attend a game based on what happens during timeouts and half time. There have also been a few suggestions in this thread that I literally laughed out loud at because they were that stupid. Someone suggested we have junior high kids play a mini game at half time. Someone else suggested we have kids/professors from one college play the kids/professors from another college from within WSU at half time. If seeing two DIVISION 1 TEAMS slug it out isn't going to bring you in to see a game, why in the hell would you think watching those other groups compete against one another at half time would? There are a lot of things that could be improved at games but the bottom line is the athletic department cannot afford to spend more on games unless they take away money from somewhere else in our basketball budget. I much rather we spend our money on our coach's salary, our recruiting budget, our S&C program, and our schedule than us waste a dime on any of this crap.
