This game is going to be battle. Miami won't be intimidated at all. They have already beat Purdue at home but won at Xavier and Saturday the beat Ball State in OT at home. We played Ball State straight up and lost it in the final minute so we should be able to hang with the Hawks at our place. Here is their starting lineup:
F 31 Peavy 6-8 215 lbs. So. F 33 Horace 6-6 242 lbs. Sr. C 30 St. Clair 6-9 248 lbs. So. G 04 Mason 6-4 180 lbs. Sr. G 25 Hatcher 6-2 184 lbs. Jr.
Top two players off the bench:
G/F 1 Penno 6-5 210 lbs. So. F 24 Schenke 6-6 218 lbs. Sr.
Looking at two box scores, Horace and Mason take half of their shots. Miami was 7-17 from the 3's against Ball State.
I am worried about who guards Danny Horace. He can score down low and take you outside and hit the 3. He was 2-3 from the 3 against Ball State. He is big and physical. Do you put Zach on him and risk early foul trouble? Can Drew handle his bulk in the post?
Can Everret guard Peavy at 6-8 215 lbs? They are big height and bulk wise across the board. Who guards Mason? Probably the combination of Jaron and Zakee.
I just don't think we match up well with them. I am not saying we won't or can't win, but I am worried about our match ups.
Charlie Coles always has a tough in your face defense so we need to keep Dashaun out of foul trouble.
What do you guys think?

2G Josh Hausfeld was held out of the Ball State game because of an injury. no word if he will suit up.

Nickskin, what kind of offensive game does Peavy have? Is he a post player or a perimeter player? Will he be able to defend a guard since we run a 3 guard offensive?
This should be a great game.

Man is Miami tall across the front line! It will be interesting to see if Peavy can guard Spencer or Boyd. If our smaller lineup can't handle Miami we might see coach Biancardi go with Drew at the three and Vova or Plieman at the four.
Go Raiders!!

Hausfeld can be deadly from behind the arc. I really like this kids game.

Peavy is 6'8" and can handle the ball like a guard. In fact he was the PG on his AAU team and often took on the same duties for CJ. The last 2 games Nathan has really started to shine offensively and has been much more aggressive on the offensive end. Once he becomes more confident in his abilities he'll be a terrific player for Miami. Wright State will be a good test for him as his "coming out" party so far has been at home. It will be interesting to see if his confidence continues at the Nutter Center. Of course this will be somewhat of a homecoming for Nathan as he played many a game on the Raiders court.
IMO he is a very nice defensive player.
However, Miami has had trouble with guard oriented teams such as Butler, Findley and Ball State. Penetration has killed the Redhawks and defensively I'm sure that is something Charlie has been working on in pracktice. Although the Redhawks did very well defensively vs. Xavier at the Cintas limiting penetration and playing terrific perimeter defense.
-----
Although Miami goes 6'9" St. Clair, 6'8" Peavy, 6'5" Horace up front it really is a perimeter team. In fact St. Clair is the teams best shooter.
looking forward to the game as I have always enjoyed the rivalry.

sorry...to answer your question before I got long-winded...Peavy is more of an "outside" player at this point.

Thanks for the info on Peavy Nickskin. I can't imagine that dribble penetration is a problem for Miami with all that tall timber you guys have.
It should be a good game.
