Alright boys and girls, let's put the Miami game behind us and look ahead to the Zips. Here is what we got.
Record: 4-2 Lost @ Drake 88-90 Lost @ N. Illinios 58-66 Won Mt. Union 77-47 Won Hampton 80-59 Won @ Duquesne 77-65 Won Cleveland St. 79-75
Roster:
Fr. Middleton g. 6-0 185 lbs. 7.2 ppg So. Joyce g. 6-0 165 lbs. 7,2 ppg, 5.2 apg So. Wood f. 6-6 245 lbs. 11.8 ppg, 8 rpg Jr. Peterson f. 6-5 220 lbs. 13.3 ppg, 4 rpg Jr. Futch c. 6-8 255 lbs. 2.4 ppg.
Reserves: So. Travis f. 6-7 220 lbs. 6.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg. Sr. Collins g 5-5 165 lbs. 3.8 ppg. Walther g. 8.8 ppg.
I don't know much about the Zips. They have 2 guys in double figures but four others scoring 6.8 ppg or more.
If the Cleveland State game is any indication they have 9 players that played more than 9 minutes.

I noticed that Akron's two leading scorers are both forwards. They both have bulk with Wood weighing in at 245 pounds and Peterson at 220 pounds. Their center, Futch is big at 255 pounds but he doesn't play many minutes, Travis Romero at 6-7 and 220 pounds see most of the minutes as the sixth man. Once again Spencer will be asked to guard a forward with some size. I thought he did pretty good job of defending against Peavy but he struggled big time offensively against a big player ( I'm talking primarily about BULK and not height). It will be a match up I'll be watching to see if Spencer can gain some leverage with his quickness. If he can't then I expect we'll see a lot of Plieman with Drew moving to the small forward.
Personally I really liked the line up when it was Plieman at center, Zach at the power forward, Drew at the small forward, Zakee at the two guard, and Dashaun at the point. It was very effective against Miami. We are a much more physical team with Zach and Jordan on the floor at the same time.
It should be another good game. Let's hope we can find a way to win this one before we hit the road.
Go Raiders!!
