Alstork is probably thinking why did I leave the Raiders?

I thought that Wright State would have played Clemson by now. It seems like most coaches that move up the coaching ladder reward their former team with a game now and than as a thank you to their former school for giving them them an opportunity to succeed. Has anyone heard if WSU has ever approached Clemson about a game? Most coaches that play their former schools after they leave do so because it is part of their buyout contract when they leave. WSU did not have that as part of Brownell's buyout. In regards to your second question, I doubt WSU has approached him to play a game. There was no love between Brownell and WSU. He always had his foot halfway out the door while he was here. He came to WSU just to leave UNCW. He applied for every job he could after every season he was here at WSU until he finally got the Clemson job. He also encouraged Donlon to leave early on in his career here and was furious when we fired him. If there was ever a chance he would play us it went away when we fired Donlon.

Any idea why there was such bad blood between Brownell and WSU? What did he have against us? Why would he go so far as to even encourage Donlon to leave early?

Alstork is probably thinking why did I leave the Raiders? He didn’t have an option on whether to leave or not. He was told to leave. Too big of a culture cancer with all his antics last year and the staff knew he had to go.

Any idea why there was such bad blood between Brownell and WSU? What did he have against us? Why would he go so far as to even encourage Donlon to leave early? I don't think it was bad blood. He just thought he was better than us. He thought he would be here for 1-2 years top then get his Power 5 job. He didn't have the type of success at WSU to move on as fast as he wanted and honestly that was his own fault because he spent each spring looking for his next job instead of recruiting. If he would have recruited as aggressively as he campaigned for his next job we would have had the players to win the HL. He encouraged Donlon to leave for the same reason. He thought Donlon could do better. He encouraged him to take the WSU job and use it as a stepping stone the way he did. I tried to support both of them while they were here and am happy they got Wright State back to being a winning program but I don't miss either and wouldn't want either back if the opportunity arose.

I know Brad ( and you are free to side with the athletic department ) did not like hearing no when it came to the postseason. He was especially upset one year when he had the team scheduled to meet on Selection Sunday even though there was zero chance the NCAA or NIT would be calling. They ended up blaming finals or injuries or players not wanting to play ( or maybe they saved one for each year ). ( The Selection Sunday meeting was cancelled and players were allowed to go home for the weekend and the assistants were sent on the recruiting trail ).
They let Billy do it a couple of times although they tried to keep from having home games but, circumstances had other ideas.
Think what you want, Nagy is the coach now.

Since FW Raider put the MSU game on here, figured I'd share that the championship win against Butler is currently on YouTube as well.

Mark Alstork scored 12 points - fourth most in his team - in a 91-60 win over Rutgers last night.
He also recorded one turnover, one rebound, and no other stats in 22 minutes.
Mark is averaging 6.2 points and 4.0 assists after interviewing major conference programs for transfer last off-season.

Since FW Raider put the MSU game on here, figured I'd share that the championship win against Butler is currently on YouTube as well. Thank you for posting this. I had a lay over in Charlotte this morning and I watched this game again. What a night. The hole run up to this game was a magic time. The bracket buster game, the final league game with Butler that put us in first and then the championship game. It’s good to go back and remember how special Dashawn was. I remember Ken Carr commenting after the game about Dashawn changing his jersey number from 1 to 5. He said if he was able to come back for another year he would have to change it again from a 5 to $ sign.
