WSU guard gets deal with Dutch team By Kyle Nagel | Monday, August 2, 2010, 12:34 PM Todd Brown, who completed his four-year Wright State basketball career in March, has agreed to play professionally for a Dutch team next season. Brown recently finished his deal to play for De Friesland Aris, a team in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. He’ll leave Aug. 20 for the eight-month training camp and season in the top league in Holland. Brown said he got in contact with the team after participating in a showcase for recent college players in Las Veags earlier this summer, where his roommate was former University of Dayton guard London Warren. A four-year starter for the Raiders, Brown finished his career with 1,469 points (ninth all-time at Wright State) and 529 rebounds (15th all-time) for career averages of 11.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. The Canton McKinley High School product received his psychology degree in June, he said. “There are kind of mixed feelings,” Brown said. “I want to keep playing, but you’re out of your comfort zone in a new place. It’ll just take some getting used to.” www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/wrightstatesports/entries/2010/08/02/wsu_guard_gets_deal_with_dutch.html?cxtype=feedbot

Glad the former players are getting some paying gigs. Heard that JDG got married last weekend so he is going the opposite direction. Best wishes

A Blast From The Past:Former Cavalier Vitaly Potapenko has resurfaced in the NBA, this time around though it is as an assistant coach. Pacers head coach Jim O'Brien added Potapenko this summer to his staff after he served as an assistant coach with Fort Wayne of the NBDL last season. Potapenko was the Cavaliers first-round pick in the 1996 draft (12th overall) out of Wright State. He played two-and-a-half seasons in Cleveland before being dealt to Boston for Andrew DeClercq in 1999. The 6-foot-10 forward played 11 seasons in the NBA for four different teams and spent one season playing professionally in Spain before turning to the coaching ranks. www.cleveland.com/dsn/index.ssf/2010/11/wine_and_gold_scribbles_-_cavaliers_notebook_3.html
