This year the Wright State Raiders made it to the cusp of a Horizon League championship and an NCAA tournament berth. This was done despite major player turnover....or was it as a result?
Here's a ˜Where Are They Now" of players who would have been on our roster this year had they stayed at WSU.
Frankly, I like the roster we have now a lot better.
Sr. - Tyler Koch - Ball State Cardinals At WSU: 1.1ppg, 0.6 reb. At BSU: Had a respectable season last year averaging 6.6 ppg and 3.3 rebs. This season, though, he made 11 out of 35 shots total. Ball State finished 15-14
Sr. - Paul Darkwa - Last known whereabouts: Columbus State Community College 2011 At WSU: 1.1 ppg, 1.4 reb At CSCC: 8.1ppg, 6.6reb Paul is no longer playing ball
Sr. - Darian Cartharn - Missouri St. Louis (NCAA D-II) At WSU: 1.0ppg At MSTL 14.9 ppg, 2.9 reb, 1.8 asst Darian's team lost in the second round of the NCAA D-2 tournament this year. He was named second-team all league
Sr. -John Balwigaire - No further basketball career At WSU: 4.3ppg, 1.2 reb, 1.0 asst
Sr. - Armond Battle - Urbana (NCAA D-II) at WSU: 6.8ppg, 3.5 reb at Urbana: 21.1 ppg, 5.7 reb Battle put up great numbers in D-II as a senior, but Urbana finished 10-20 on the year
Jr. - Kegan Clark - Indiana University Southeast (NAIA) at WSU 1.2ppg, 1.0 reb at IUSE 10.8ppg, 4.8 reb IUSE lost in the NAIA Final Four this year
So. - Jason Cuffee - Cedarville (NCAA D-II) at WSU -“ 0.4 ppg, 0.7reb at Cedarville - 7.6 ppg, 3.2 reb Jason shot 44.6% from beyond the arc this year. Cedarville is currently in the second round of the NCCAA tournament
So - Vance Hall - Bellarmine(NCAA D-II) at WSU 4.5 ppg, 1.5 reb at Bellarmine 15.2ppg (leads team) 90-99FTs Bellarmine is 22-7 and currently slotted a 3 seed in the NCAA D-II tourney.
So- Alex Pritchett - Bellarmine At WSU redshirt At Bellarmine 2.4ppg
Sr. Julius Mays - Kentucky whatever

Sr. Julius Mays - Kentucky whatever All I really have to say is Karma is a bitch sometimes. Julius didn't get to play in the NCAA tournament while at NC State. If he would have stayed there, he would have been a senior on their NCAA tournament team last year. He supposedly left Wright State because he didn't think we could be a contender this year. We were 2 minutes away from Dancing. Instead he left to go play for the defending National Champions. Well, his UK team just got bounced from the SEC tournament and is most likely NIT bound. I wonder if he regrets his decision? He would have been one of the preseason favorites for HL POY and you have to think we would be preparing for the NCAA tournament if he was still a Raider. What a waste.

The only guy on that list that I still would have liked to see stay is Vance Hall. I liked the way he defended (unlike Julius Mays, who is not a good defender) and Vance was a solid outside shooter, which we needed this year. He was also developing a decent ability to drive and had good size. Not sure how we would have fit in with Miles Dixon (who I think overall is better) and an improved Kendall Griffin, as well next year with Hopkins, but I did like Vance's game and attitude (from what one could see from the stands). Glad to see he is doing well.
