Let's send a message to the administration regarding scheduling non Div I teams.

You guys don't get it. Wright State already makes a profit from season ticket sales for those games and the revenue they get from sponsors for those games. Any walk up sales is just additional profit. If you want to boycott, go ahead. It isn't going to stop them from scheduling those types of games.
What will allow us to stop scheduling those types of games is if revenue goes up enough that we can afford buy games vs. other D1 schools. We stopped doing those buy games in the past because we weren't making enough money on them to cover our costs.

Did we have to buy Alcorn State? If we did it was a poor business decision. Heck I guess our RPI would have been higher if our whole our out of conference schedule was div. 3 this year since it don't hurt the RPI none. Plus the Nutt House would have made profit by having them there. I bet our RPI would have been in the top 100 if we have played nothing but Div. 3 out of conference.

I think it would be more effective if you literally sent a message to the athletic department and tell them that you're not going to renew your season tickets if they continue to schedule non-DI games. Then again I really don't care what you guys do, I'll be at the games regardless of who we play but that's just me

If we can't afford to bring in good schools then we really do need to expand the Horizon League to 14 or 16 teams so that we don't need to worry about an OOC schedule. I would rather us go on the road then play a non-d1 school, it just feels like an exhibition game. I didn't go to the non d-1 games this year and i plan on missing them next year, however i will watch on the HLN network for free.

Uptempo, If you expand to too many teams you would probably have 2 divisions and might end up with less league games. It's your right to stay away from any or all games you choose but, I have a feeling it won't improve things. The non-D1 games are a league problem ( even if we didn't do it...Brad didn't do it and the problem hasn't gone away ). I'd rather play a bad D-1 school than go on the road but, I like going to the games at home. As for the HLN, I'd rather see a game in person but, I agree with Big D...if enough people just stay home then home contests should be blacked out or have a fee involved ( if you are happy with tape delay after 11pm then go for it ). Obviously, and I am all for adding 1 or 3 teams, you can help scheduling with more by reducing OOC...for some reason LeCrone popped into my thinking and I started coming up with worst case scenarios. So, guess I say never mind on the number.

I was going to boycott them this past year, but because we were already going to miss so many games due to some trips I attended whatever games I could. Next year I think that won't be a problem for us, so I'll be inclined to avoid such games. I may also avoid games against lowly rated D-I teams. I'm still debating with myself the possibility of not renewing our season tickets. I think the University should publish the schedule BEFORE people are required to buy their season tickets, or at least announce what they know about the upcoming schedule as to the teams regardless of the date and time of the games.

Maybe if they would announce the schedule it might get more season ticket holders. That is looking at the glass half full not empty.

It looks like fans have overwhelmingly voted that they won't boycott. If you aren't happy about the D2 and D3 games I suggest you e-mail our AD and let him know it.

I think this poll is going to be skewed due to all of the season ticket holders we have on the board. I don't think any of us like the D2/D3 games but at the same time I don't think any of us are going to throw away tickets we paid for to boycott those games.

I answered that I wouldn't go to boycott. That said I love my Raider basketball and with two kids under 2 years iof age I love my few nights I get out!!! I just feel like if we want, and know we all want us to take the next step. This regression in SOS isn't helping. If we were 24-7 against this schedule we would maybe feel better, but I'd rather 20 wins against a schedule in the 140 range would truly be a better accomplishment. I don't know who those people are that voted for sure they would still attend those glorffied scrimmages but is it blind love or stupidity?

raiderfan14, funny but I characterized people that wanted to boycott non-D1 games in a unflattering way...so, there you go. I go with Raider Country's reasoning. I don't consider any game to be an automatic win and I can see advantages to such games. I can see more disadvantages though. I think it is different if you know coaches, players, and players families. I think it is different if you use these games to look forward to seeing season ticket holders and friends. I don't dwell on who we play or what division like some people ( frankly, it makes me think of some fans as being more or less true than others because of things like this ). I started going to the games as a student in the D2 days...I thought about that when we drove by Transylvania University on the way to UK. The SOS and RPI are what they are but, taking the next step and taking the first step...well, be happy you are in the here and now.

I go to the basketball games to watch the Raiders play well against good teams. If wsutommygun wants to hang out with his friends he should go to Cracker Barrel or Marions Pizza. I am a TRUE fan because I want to watch my team compete for a NCAA Bid, if I wanted to chat over a cup of chamomile tea I would go to a quilting bee or hoedown down near Translvania University. The SOS and RPI are what they are because the coach, A.D. and the WSU President haven't set the bar very high. We've been in the here and now for 20 years and the mediocrity WSU has achieved does not make me happy in the here and now. P.S., if we can't consider a game against a non-D1 school to be an automatic win, then we should just give up basketball. WSU has too many fans that accept average.
