This will be a tight game and our offense needs to be hitting on all cylinders. Need a good inside outside game to create offense. Won't be able to just go inside to Karena. Will need JT and Grant hitting threes with Joe and Mark driving the basket.

Free T shirts for the first 5,000 fans. That always brings out the student body. We couldn't have picked a better game for it. The energy level will be high.

I hear there will be free beer for all students too.
(Not really, but I think we should spread that rumor just so every WSU student attends the game.)

Free beer would be standing room only on a Friday night.

The other team in town doesn't have a game Friday - I think with a little public exposure we can get 6k in the stands even without a ticket promotion depending on the weather. We should get a decent walk-up crowd for a first place showdown.

I hate to bring these facts back up from the grave, but it's worth posting.
Since Billy Donlon took our program over, we are a combined 3-10 when we play at home in front of 5500 fans or more.

I'll add to my last post, I get trying to be optimistic...
But has anyone actually watched Valpo play this season? I'll provide some highlights.
Almost beat Oregon in Oregon. Valpo led at the half, and much of the second half before falling behind late. Oregon had 2 guys drop 20 on Valpo to spark the comeback. 2 days later they won at Oregon State. They split a H-H with Belmont already this season, each team winning at home...
Oh, and then they opened league play and diced through the entire league. Losing by no less than 12, and winning by an average of 24 points.
They are currently sitting atop of the Mid Major Top 25 poll, and are sitting 29th in the AP Poll.
I know crazier things have happened, especially here at home...But I haven't seen enough out of this team to legitimately feel like we've got a shot at this. Playing at home might help us slightly, but I imagine we'll lose in the range of 10-15 points. I hope this team show up to play and proves me wrong. Just being a realist.

I don't know if WSU pulls off the upset, but I don't think they lose by double-digits.

This game will be won or lost on the glass. Valpo is a rebounding machine. In league play, they have 93 offensive rebounds to their opponents 60, and in overall rebounds they lead 287 to 224, an average of 10.5 more rebounds per game than their opponents. WSU has 43 offensive boards to our opponents 42, and they have a slight lead in overall boards of 205 to 196. In Valpo's last game against YSU, they had 21 offensive rebounds and outrebounded YSU overall by 31 boards. It could be a long night for our boys in Green & Gold if Valpo gets their average of 15.5 offensive boards Friday night.

[Seriously, I don't like any game that comes down to a "rebounding battle" for us. We're not a terrible rebounding team, but we're certainly not a good one.]
