I went…it was a good look at the team. They scrimmaged quite a bit with frequent pauses for coaching and instruction at most dead ball points and then right back to the scrimmage. Ran several fast break drills – does look like we will be playing fast. Coach Nagy got on the mic briefly at the end to thank everyone for coming out and said that was pretty much what most practices look like. The guys were going hard – it wasn’t a walk through by any stretch of the imagination. If people were upset last year that we practiced hard and sometimes players get hurt in practice…you’re still going to be upset. Few notes from my non-expert eye: • LaTulip has a nice touch on his jumper and some swagger – he will be a player for us • Grant showed some nice leadership qualities – looked in charge, I expect him to be a leader this year • Justin Mitchell is chiseled – I’d kill to have his shoulders and arms – his game looks solid too • Love is a big boy – he’s not going to get pushed around. Didn’t show a bunch of post moves but should clean up offensive boards. Free throw touch could use some work though • Parker is every bit of 6’11 – significantly taller than Love • I don’t remember Winchester taking a single shot – he’s long though • Steven Davis’ shot was off but it was good to see him on the court again. He’s still pretty lean – hopefully he won’t be banging all game against HL power forwards • I didn’t notice any drop off in defensive intensity from last year – even with this just being a practice Great stuff Pirate! LaTulip is going to pleasantly surprise Raider fans as I've been saying all along. He had several scholarship offers when he decided to transfer from Illinois and he chose us.

I did not think Alstork was the best fit at PG so I like this move. He is our leading returning scorer, play him off the ball.

" I wanted him just to basically think about being an aggressive offensive player"
Again, I wish Donlon well and I think he's going to be great for Michigan, but MAN, is this music to my ears!
Is the exhibition going to be broadcast anywhere?

Donlon being "great for Michigan" would make me like him even less. Too bad he wasn't great for us and wasted a few of our seasons with his awful, boring coaching style.

Never understood the idea of making him a PG anyway. 1. He's not a PG. 2. LaTulip is our PG. I know we need other guys that can play the spot when LaTulip is out, but that's not the same as saying "Mark Alstork is going to be our PG." So, I'm very happy to hear Alstork is on the wing and can focus on being the excelllent offensive weapon that he is. And they might say he's moving to SG, but Grant Benzinger is really our SG. Mark is the small forward in this starting lineup. EDIT: The article says Mitchell is now the starting PG with Hughes backing him up? No mention of LaTulip at all? Strange.

Donlon is a highly rated assistant coach, but that may just be his ceiling. He ran things into the ground here because he couldn't adjust to being The Guy. He'll be a great lieutenant for the wolverines. As for LaTulip starting at the point, he was a walk-on with limited minutes at Illinois. My very uneducated guess is that he's here more as a stabilizing presence than an impact player. He's also over 6'0", so if we're transitioning from the old Donlon system, he could be converted to a post player.

After watching the scrimmage, it seems clear that LaTulip is a SG. Mitchell did a good job at the point, but he really wasn't challenged too much by Cedarville's guards.

Oh my fault. I thought LaTulip was a 1 not a 2.
Sounds like he's a good player. I like hearing that.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong here. I was looking at our espn.com page and we only have four games marked for espn3 broadcast. ...all of which are in December ...only one of which is home ...the home game is against Urbana.
It looks like the HLN has been taken down entirely. Is there anywhere at all to watch?

When I go to the ESPN app and search for Wright State, all of our home games show up for me.

Weird. The ESPN app is showing them for me, too. I wonder why they're not listed elsewhere.
Thanks, Big D.

We won't have any depth at all inside if we red shirt Lou.

We won't have any depth at all inside if we red shirt Lou. Which tells me Coach must not think he is near ready to contribute at this level
