Cincinnati would be a decent option for a neutral court. I hope we go back to campus sites.

Assuming Indy is out (and they would have to be based on the original HL's specs as I don't see the Pacers agreeing to be away for 3 weeks in the back half of their season) and to play at WinTrust we would have to change our scheduled dates and I'm not sure how that would work to have the games televised with ESPN.
So, here are the only possibilities I can think of...venues in the HL footprint and seating 3,800+. I'm not implying they're good options, but the only possibilities I can think of. Why 3,800 seating? Because that allows the inclusion of Hobart Arena which maybe the best option if the HL doesn't go back to campus sites.
Canton Columbus Cincinnati Troy Toledo (placed a bid to host MAC when MAC extended Cleveland to 2023. Made sense with UT and BGSU close by, but not for HL) Fort Wayne Detroit Auburn Hills Gary, IN Rosemont, IL Hoffman Estates, IL Milwaukee
Of those listed there's no telling who put in a bid. I'm guessing only a handful, which would narrow it down significantly. But to help the HL pick the best location LeCrone did hire some very expensive consultants....ones that usually lobby and work with cities looking to host the Olympics and international events.

Couple thoughts on this: Cleveland would be in play as the MAC tournament is the week after the HL. Also the league is open to options other than NBA arenas. If anyone was in Detroit the last few years knows that there were alot of people dressed as red seats. We are pretty locked into the dates as we have the tuesday night spot during that week on espn for our championship game. I have a contact in the alumni association who told me that Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Indy, Ft. Wayne, Cincinnati were all possible cities that reached out to them inquiring about season ticket numbers, alumni numbers, etc. If I were betting, Chicago or Cleveland are the most likely sites.

Why? He's not as big or as strong as Zion. He's also not playing against the quality of teams that Zion plays against.

EDIT: which now that I think about it, wasn't one of the stipulations on bids that it couldn't be a home gym for a member institution? They apparently dropped that stipulation when they received no offers to host the tournament.

Great choice of city but terrible arena to hold the HL tournament

That was part of the stipulation. Either the HL changed the stipulation (were other programs aware of change? i.e, WSU & NKU) or IUPUI is going to move their men's "home" court back to where their women play...a 1,200 seat gym.

So the tournament is now in a glorified barn?

So the tournament is now in a glorified barn? At first everyone was complaining about playing in an empty arena, but it being the best basketball venue in the country. It’s now in a small arena in a centralized spot. NKU, WSU, IUPUI, and UIC are close to this site and those are the four best teams in the league the last two years and looking forward seem to be in good positions. Fans could possibly fill it up, granted not on a Tuesday night. The only stupid part of this is that it is IUPUIs home court.
