Youngstown State has inked a 2-1 series with West Virginia. YSU also has a buy game at Pitt. That's the type of buy games the HL needs...a potential winnable game at a Power-5 program. And, the Penguins have a buy game at Ohio State.

I long for the days when Jerry Slocumb was the biggest threat to HL RPIs. UDM may win a game or two after all. "The Panthers’ three top players – junior guard Brock Stull, junior guard Jeremiah Bell and sophomore forward Bryce Nze – have all asked for and received their releases from the university in order to transfer and play elsewhere. With sophomore guards August Haas and Jeremy Johnson also having left the program in late March, that means five scholarship players have now departed in less than a month. Additonally, a source said that three of the four players UWM signed in the early signing period last fall – Zach Cameron-Chodes, Tyronn Moseley and Fabio Soehnel – have also asked to be released from their national letters of intent." www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uwm/2018/04/23/uw-milwaukees-top-3-players-leaving-basketball-program/542606002/?from=new-cookie

After a quick bit of research, I found that UWM only has six scholarship players next year. That group includes one freshman and one new juco player who was just announced this weekend.
This could be better.

I copied this post from the Detroit Titans Hoop message board. The author certainly has a point. Detroit still does not have a head coach since firing Bacari Alexander 5 weeks ago, and Milwaukee lost nearly their entire roster due to transfers and de-commitments from their incoming 2018 recruiting class. These two programs are probably headed to the bottom of the RPI rankings next year, and YSU's coach has cleaned house there as well, so they appear destined to a sub 300 RPI as well. Attendance at these 3 schools is nearly non-existent, and this upcoming season I think you will be able to count the fans in the stands on your fingers and toes. I think the HL is going to remain mired at the bottom of conference RPI rankings again this upcoming season. The light at the end of the tunnel is an on coming train.

The Horizon LeCrone is evidently in love with X. Or X in love with the Horizon LeCrone. X is paying (Hope it's good market rate) IUPUI for their home opener and for both Michigan schools (UDM and Oakland) to enjoy the December balmy weather on the banks of the mighty Ohio River. Not including their MTE that's nearly 1/3 of their ooc schedule.

UDM is still without a head coach. The Titans are just one of four D I programs in the entire country to be searching for someone who wants the job.
The other 3 are Chicago State, Delaware State, and Alabama A&M.
Chicago State is considered to be the worst D I job out of 351. The school has no money and there is serious speculation whether CSU will remain at the DI level.
Delaware State (MEAC Conference RPI 31)--Delaware State finished #350 in RPI last year.
Alabama A&M (SWAC Conference RPI 32)--A&M Finished #351 in RPI last year. In fairness to A&M their coach just resigned 2 weeks ago. The other 3 programs have had a vacancy for nearly 3 months.
There are some groups a program/league would like to be affiliated with and others as far away as possible. UDM being in the same group as the worst 3 programs in all of D I is appalling and embarrassing to the rest of the HL.

This is amazing how far that program has fallen. UDM was an original seven schools in the Horizon League, I believe it was known as the Midwest Cities Conference at that time.
They were certainly a program with some decent history and way above Wright State in the eighties. Fifteenth or so years ago, they were one of the top teams in the HL. They had a small but dedicated fan base, that has deteriorated significantly.
As UDM has gone downhill, so has the HL. I think it will take awhile for that program to rebuild, just as it will take awhile for the HL to rebuild in basketball.
I think there is not much Wright State can do about the bad situations of the other teams in the HL. I agree with the many people who have said that WSU needs to just win and win big, then see what happens.

From an outsider looking in, it appears to me that nobody wants the UDM job. Here is a link to their message board. What few diehard fans they still have are beyond frustrated. This situation is definitely an embarrassment to the HL www.detroittitanhoops.com/

They really just can’t give the job away. It has been reported (if true) that they have offered 3-4 coaches the job and they all turned Detroit down. Even a D2 coach turned down the chance to jump up to the D1 level because their athletic department is so screwed up right now.

Not sure why they fired their coach after two seasons. I thought he could have been good.
