Is this the worst shooting team we've had? Tons of missed layups. Tons of missed 3's. Awful

When we need to score we pass the ball too much!! Disappointing loss.

Our seniors should have stayed in Dayton. I'm looking forward to their graduation.

Loudon missed 15 shots in the paint....the ball went in the bucket 16 times total for our team....we’re going to get killed by IUPUI Sunday at this rate. Also, first place is extremely difficult now and if we don’t beat IUPUI, it will be nearly impossible unless NKU chokes very very hard

Talk about Debbie-downers; some of you guys need to lighten up. Getting all negative isn’t helping a thing and if this is the most disappointment you’ve “witnessed” in 40 years, you haven’t been much of a consistent and knowledgeable fan. Things aren’t that bad and they’ll improve.
Let’s bounce back on Sunday and finish this roadtrip on a high note.

Shooting was 46%-28% favoring UIC. 3 pointers 38%-16% favoring UIC.
Impossible to win a game with those two stat lines.

Mark Hughes is in an unbelievably brutal shooting stretch. Raiders need him to bounce back.
Last 4 Games: 0/19 3-Point FG 3/27 Overall FG
2 of the 3 makes were dunks! Mark Hughes has made one jump shot in a game since January 17th, and has missed 20 consecutive threes overall.

Things aren’t that bad and they’ll improve. Let’s bounce back on Sunday and finish this roadtrip on a high note. Things aren't that bad, WSU still has 5 league games at home. As long as we finish 2nd or 3rd WSU will have a home game in the Tourney. Don't want to finish 4th, means we would have to play NKU in the semi-final game. To put things in perspective, this was a road game, against a team that already beat WSU at home, WSU was only favored by a couple, not surprised the team lost. If Love makes half his shots WSU wins this game by 20. It was a squandered opportunity, but it was not a must win game. Remember these are young men out there, not professionals. Most boys their age are eating pizza and playing xbox in their parents basement on a Friday night nowadays. Perhaps it’s not so much the players as it is the coaches. I like Nagy a lot, but sometimes I feel like his thoughts and comments are a bit out of touch, such as comments he made about a week or two ago about how he still thinks we’re the best team in the league. I had to ask myself, “How can this guy possibly think we are the best team in the league? Are we watching the same basketball teams?” Comments like these lead me to doubt his ability to steer our guys in the right direction. Clearly I just don’t see whatever it is that he sees in our guys (and of course I don’t know them like he does). I know he isn’t a miracle worker and I know that we performed way above expectations last year, but I am of the belief that good coaches show a product of steady improvement, yet the only feeling I get from this team is a big fat question mark as to how we will perform on any given night and a lack of confidence in our ability to win. Even the recent 4 game win streak didn’t give me a whole lot of confidence coming into this UIC game.

When you play a team with guys that can take you one on one to the basket and score why do you stay in a man to man defense? Relying on our 3 seniors is not going to win a conference championship.
Hughes can’t score unless he dunks Vest is timid to shoot the ball Parker is inconsistent at offense at best, but he uses his lack of speed to take a charge though.
Why not throw Manns in there and play a simple zone defense while he is in there? I mean if you can’t understand a zone defense you are not even at a high school level IQ in basketball.
If Loudon can start making 50% of his layups we would be a better team as well.
We still have Hall, Gentry, Potter, Smith, Wampler and Love next year and we just need 2 or 3 more pieces to the puzzle.

I had to ask myself, “How can this guy possibly think we are the best team in the league? Are we watching the same basketball teams?” Comments like these lead me to doubt his ability to steer our guys in the right direction. It’s called coach speak. Coaches say stuff in the media all of the time they know is bs. They do it for 2 reasons. 1. You can’t get fans in the stands if you are telling them your team sucks. 2. You will lose your team in the locker room if you say they suck when you are talking to the media. I think Nagy would be more than happy to have this season end. He is starting 3 guys that he never would have recruited to Wright State. He is also being forced to play 2 true freshmen and we all know he likes to redshirt his freshmen. If we would have had Hall and Winchester this would be a completely different team. It is what it is with the roster we have. I do like what we have coming back next year. I like the guys we are redshirting this year and I like our incoming players. We still have 1 scholarship left for next year. I wish Nagy would use that ride on a JUCO PF but I don’t think that will happen. For whatever reason he doesn’t like to bring in JUCOs. He will most likely add another freshman, D1 transfer, or hopefully a fifth year senior transfer that can play next year. In regards to the rest of this year, I think what you see is what you are going to get. I think we will finish with an above 500 record and finish in 2nd or 3rd place in the HL and that is just sad because the HL sucks. NKU is the only respectable team in the conference. There is only going to be 1-2 other teams that are going to finish above 500 vs D1 competition. We wasted a great chance to set us apart in this league this year.

At the end of the day, and it feels so cheap really, but when March rolls around if we play 2 games in a row like we did against Oakland, Miss St, Green Bay, etc. then we go to back to back dances. Does that mean we deserve it? We absolutely do not. But what we saw last night isn’t really our team, it was a very underperforming version of our depleted roster. And yes, what we saw against Oakland and Green Bay for examples was an overachieving version of our roster. The truth is we fall somewhere in about the middle of those two. Our team played about to it’s true level in the games against IUPUI and NKU. I’m not saying I have much faith that this team can string together two of those games in a row in the exact moments they need, but we clearly have the capacity to do it. It’s now about finishing second and then figuring it out in March.

If we keep playing 500 ball the rest of the year and then somehow manage to win the HL tournament then we will be playing across town in the NCAA tournament play in game. Losing a play in game across town would be humiliating and even if we win that game then we set ourselves up for a complete ass whooping against a number 1 seed on national tv. The positive would be being able to say we went to back to back NCAAs which will help with future recruiting and the extra NCAA tournament money.

It would be embarrassing to lose in the first four, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we didn’t get first four, although we’d be a 16 seed almost definitely. But at the end of the day, going to the tourney is always better than not, no matter how you get there. It would certainly help us become the obvious big brother in recruiting the cincy and Kentucky areas over NKU
